Shimano R7170 tuning

Trying to set up and tune a new bike (ICAN A23). I can shift fine when the groupset isn’t connected to Shimano's e-tune app.  Once I connect, neither shifter does anything.  Haven’t had di2 before, but sounds like it should be able to shift when connected.  Any ideas??

Firmware is up to date.  Tried on iPhone and android.

r7170 105 DI2 groupset is from Ali

Could ride the bike as-is, but wanted to tune the shifting before the maiden voyage.  Thanks!

You can not shift on levers when the groupset is connected.

For shifting when connected, you have to go in the maintenance/ adjusting mode in the app. And click in the app.
