I did this: I cleaned everything, bought a bolt, and shortened it so that when it's fully threaded into the seatpost wedge, it uses the entire length of the seatpost wedge thread. I lubricated the contacting parts of the seatpost wedge with grease, applied carbon paste to the seatpost and the inside of the frame where the seatpost wedge meets, and tightened it with a torque wrench to 7nm. I went for a ride on a rough, bumpy road and again had to tighten the bolt by about 1/4 turn to 7nm, but the seatpost wouldn't budge. I lubricated the bolt thread with grease, not threadlocker. I did the above according to the instructions for the Specialized Roubaix SL8, which also uses a seatpost wedge. Despite writing to them for several days, Spcycle has been silent and has received no response.

This is good to know.  I plan to use/test a RACEWORK Wireless Dropper Seatpost in my G028 build.  At this point in time, I am still accumulating parts, and waiting for the 11-11 sale before I build up the frame.

At this point in time, I am test fitting parts on the frame.

I slid the RACEWORK Wireless Dropper Seatpost into the frame, and then had one heck of a time getting the 3-pieces of the wedge to slide into the frame.  Since this is a test fit, I really didn't want to lubricate the wedge, but ended up having to use a slight layer of grease inside the frame just to get the wedge to slide into the frame with the seatpost installed.

Now I have a different problem.  With the wedge slid down in the frame, without the bolt even being tightened, I can't get the wedge to lift back up for removal. When I pull up on the seatpost the wedge is locking in place and I can't pull the seatpost upwards and the wedge wont move.

I am sure there has to be an easy way to get the post and wedge to come out of the frame, I am still in the scratching my head phase of a removal technique.

After receiving the frame, I’m going to assemble the components little by little. I have to buy everything, and since it involves a lot of money, I’ll be spreading the process out over a long period. Today, I installed the seatpost and the stem. I didn't have any trouble with the seatpost; with a bit of carbon paste, it slid in with just a little bit of force. I have two questions regarding the stem. Did you install the lower bearing cup on the stem? Is the spacer shown in the photo necessary?

Greetings,

Since the geometry is near identical, is there any specific reason to choose the SP G028, MEINIER-GRL15, or Mondice FM-376? I assume if value is most important, the Meinier is the top choice.

Cheers

If they were all the same price I would get the Mondince because I like the design more and the fact that the storage door does not hold the bottle. But it cost 50% more so I bought Meinier

Took my G028 out for the first "real" ride yesterday.
My other two bikes are from Scott, an Addict RC from 2020 and an Addict Gravel from 2025. Both are much more race-oriented with a more aggressive geometry.
The G028 rides like a charm, very smooth, very solid, still quite fast. It is slower while cornering, but that is very expected with the different geometry. It was pure street / tarmac yesterday, so I couldn't really test any offroad capabilities. Sure, the 2.2" Dubnitals (Trail casing, not Race casing) aren't that fast on the Road (compared to my beloved GP5000 AS TR), but more than ridable.

I don't love the head tube / top tube intersection, looks kinda goofy. Not sure why they designed it like that, I do prefer the look from the Mondince FM376. I also do prefer the seat stay / seat tube junction of the FM376, but it's fine. I do prefer the downtube bottle cage mounts on the SPCycle, they're way too high on the FM376 in my opinion.

My hacked SRAM crankset × Shimano Derailleur drivetrain runs great, no issues here. I might upgrade to SRAM XPLR down the line, but so far I'm very happy with this setup.

The Rpantahi cockpit is really good, super clean looking, nice 360mm width, absolutely reliable. I just ordered another one for my Addict RC.

If you have any questions about the frame / bike, let me know!

Your build looks really good! I’ll try to recreate this colorway, but with a matte finish.
Florian, do you have any overlap with size S? And maybe you could give me some advice on sizing: S or M? (175 cm, 81 cm.)

Sweet build! Couple questions..

Is that the road or wide E1 force crank? What’s the max size front chainring that you believe can fit? Also, is that the od2 Rpantahi cockpit? If so, did you just use a shim?

Cheers

Yes, it’s an AI-generated image. I asked the AI to isolate the room, and things got a bit out of hand.
