Your build looks really good! I’ll try to recreate this colorway, but with a matte finish.
Florian, do you have any overlap with size S? And maybe you could give me some advice on sizing: S or M? (175 cm, 81 cm.)
Thanks! Please do, I'd love to see that in a matte finish!
I do have a bit of toe overlap (pretty sure that's just "normal" with small frames and big tires), it doesn't bother me. Once you get used to it, it's not a problem. Riding short cranks (165mm atm) helps quite a bit.
I'm 171 / 79 and size S is obviously the smallest I could get so I needed a 90mm stem, but that works perfectly. Pretty sure you could go either S or M, depending on stem size preference. I'd go S with a longer stem (looks cooler), but if you want more stack, M is probably the better choice.
Sweet build! Couple questions..
Is that the road or wide E1 force crank? What’s the max size front chainring that you believe can fit? Also, is that the od2 Rpantahi cockpit? If so, did you just use a shim?
Cheers
That's the Wide E1 Force crankset. Haven't tried with road, I want to upgrade to XPLR down the road so I "need" that wide crankset anyway.
Not sure about max chainring size but there's still plenty of room, I'm guessing 48, maybe even 50T should fit. I can do a top-down photo tomorrow.
That's the normal, OD1, Rpantahi cockpit. No shim needed.
(I got the OD2 as well, but on a Scott Addict RC with 1 1/4" steerer, it's similar, but a shade darker and has a slightly different top cap design.)
How much of a pita is the downtube bottle cage being mounted to the access hatch in practice? Does it rattle annoyingly? Is it likely to get worse with age/use? It does seem like a potential problem on a gravel bike exposed to rough terrain.
Still I guess you could just tape or glue the hatch shut if it is a problem. The whole storage box inside a CF frame seems a gimmick anyway.
It doesn't rattle, in fact I don't even notice anything about it when riding. It could potentially break (it's plastic), which would be super annoying but since many frame sets use this exact storage box design, I'm not too worried about replacement parts. Most annoying thing is that it's not open both ways, but the lower part is articifally closed by the "mount".
