Wait, so with LC branding + HBR20, the price is 869 USD. And if without LC branding and HBR20 it's 1169 USD? Is that correct? Or regardless if there's branding or not, it's 1169 USD?

If you want a plain, non-branded frame it's going to cost $300 more than if you have a frame with LC's branding on it.

I may be in the minority but one of the appeal going to OEM was the lack of branding and being able to put my own. I enjoy individuality, if I wanted to belong to a group, I would stretch and get a specialized or Scott or cube or whatever
So you can stretch for western brand but you complain about extra $300?

It seems Lightcarbon has soured on the idea of their frames being branded with random names, which simply looks unprofessional.
Probably you can make your own emblem at Elves, Avenger or any different OEMmish brand but they also will charge you extra.

I do get that they want to brand their frames. The problem is: Their decals / logos are ugly as hell not aesthetically pleasing. If they had a cool decal / logo design, people wouldn't even discuss this.

You want to make $300 profit on every frame? Sure, just slap that bad boy on every frame from now on:

The 300 includes custom paint as well right? I think this makes sense and really only affects people who want UD Matte or glossy finishes and no logos.

is that when you assume that you have good taste, and that people agree with you? You'd have to gift me the frame AND pay me to ride that. I have horrible taste myself and that's a core part of my identity. I personally tape sauerkraut on my rims and call them Chewbawheels, for example. Moving to disc brakes really allowed me to express my true self, before that the cabbage would interfere with the brake track and i would die regularly.

Is that the actual logo that you found on the website, or is this something of your own creation?

It's one of many Logos they are actually using. They also have the one with the stripes above and below and the really big one. I think they are going with the one that's prominent on the hero image on their website.

For me, that's way too big and if they really charge $300 just to have this abomination removed (and custom paint ... whatever), I'm out.

Maybe they could refine their logo shown on page 1 of this thread, would look cool with a non-serif, much cleaner, font.

I want UD Matte with no logo but apparently that costs $300 more.

Yes, value vs cost, 2 different things
I can get a Time aloe d'huez for 1700$, or a Lightcarbon for 1200$, which one will be the better spend if I want to resale in year 3-4?

Bit of a krooked comparison.
For 1200$ you get a custom painted bike frame per your wishes plus your own custom decals.
Agreed on resell value, but TIME has no resell value either. And any frame with resell value after 3-4 years needs to be a major brand costing initially 2,5 to 3k.

The one with only clearance for 28mm tyres will be hard to shift. There's a reason they're so heavily discounted.

You can make the argument with any end of the year heavily discounted frame. But I am not here to convince anyone, I have my opinion based on what value I put on things, other sees it differently, it's perfectly fine ;)

your argument applies to all the chinese frames here then. almost all the higher end chinese quality frames cost in the 1000$ +/- range. the cheap stuff is lottery grade. and the resell value is 0 for all of them.
so why bother for chinese frames at all? i dont get this enraged discussion every 3 weeks.

The problem I see it that they do not put any effort into sure the whole package (brand name, logo, paint design) looks good. I mean they do not even have name for the model :D It just removed value from the product.
