Looking for a carbon 142x12 hardtail with >450 mm reach
« on: May 18, 2026, 06:58:44 AM »
Hi all,

A buddy of mine has a Focus Raven L from 2017 and it's developed a creak. All kind of things have been tried, but it's apparently hopeless.
Focus doesn't hold any warranty stock to help him with.

He now runs 450 mm reach with 644 mm stack (130 mm headtube on 100 mm fork) so on another frame (usually a shorter head tube) he'll need a longer reach than that.
XL frame would be fine, usually he rides XL anyway.

Do any models come to mind? I'm aware of the Airwolf.

The hard part is the 142 mm rear end, he's got two wheels for that already and no other 142 mm bikes, so painful to upgrade to 148 mm now.

Thanks,

J

Trifox SDY21 has 12x142 rear and biggest size 450mm reach.
But 120mm fork needed.
Other Trifox non Boost frames are limited to 412mm reach.

Thanks for the tip. 482mm fork length listed on the first page I see it on is actually well shorter than I usually see for 100 mm forks. Could be a typo.
We prefer a tad longer a frame anyway :)

Tideace FM-M009 could be another option. And BXT-MTB-015 comes with 12x142 rear spacing as well. AFAIK there are hardly any other non boost hardtail frames on the market anymore.

I had an almost identical frame like the FM-M009 but from SP-cycle 10 years ago. The frame served as its 3rd build: first as a hardtail, then as a rigid mountain bike, now as a dropbar gravel.  totaling about 2500 miles without any issues.   Only complaint is that the top top is too wide and my leg rub against it sometimes.
