Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Thanks for your answer. I cut them myself to end right at the connection pins. How did you cut them, not covering those pins?

Maybe file down the pins? Also, Velobuild now makes a new ring that's slightly bigger and doesn't have pins for just this issue. Maybe try reaching out to them?

Re: Velobuild HB010 Handle bar According to their website, the reach is 80mm. I would assume this accounts for the flare?
I can't really answer your question, but these bars do run big in general in my experience. I have a 420x100 that by my measurements are both a little long and a little wide. It feels in general bigger than I was expecting, mainly too long.
I'm currently looking to switch handlebars and deciding between the VB separate bar/stem in 400x90 or another HB010 in 400x90. According to VB, the HB010 has 5mm more in reach...

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
VeloBuild put a post up on Instagram not too long ago saying they were going to produce a 0mm offset post for the VB-R-168 after the demand they've seen for the VB-R-099 they recently released.

I'm sure if you send them a message they'll let you know when it's going to be available.
Nooo don't tell me this...I don't have space for another bike! I really want a 168 and a 0 offset post would seal the deal... :D :D :D

Re: Mullet shifting for gravel I have a set of Force AXS shifters with an Eagle XX1 AXS derailleur that I picked up used on a whim. They're just laying around right now and I haven't thought of a way to use this stuff, but it would be perfect for a mullet build. I already have a gravel bike with a mullet setup and don't need another one .
On my current gravel bike (Poseidon X) I'm running SRAM Rival 1x with a Garbaruk cage and pulley wheel mod on the rear derailleur. The Garbaruk cage allows your SRAM 1x derailleur of choice to function with up to 10-50 tooth mtb cassettes. I've got mine set up with an 11-50 tooth Sunshine 11 speed cassette and a 42 tooth chainring. This should work with your 11 or 12 speed SRAM derailleur of choice, looks cool and is much cheaper than a full AXS setup.

Re: Juin Tech GT-F brake calipers (dual piston)
So far I am running both the Juintech F1's and the BR-005 with the original pads that came on delivery.
I am also wondering what improvements could be achieved experimenting with different pads...
Hopefully somebody can share some experience with different break pads and make some recommendations.

BR Chris

I'm a bit late to the party! But I did actually run my F1s with Shimano metal pads. When I switched over to the M06 metal pads I immediately felt an improvement. I didn't run this brake set for very long tbh. I quickly switched to a hydraulic system because fully internal routing+cable disc brakes got me into some sketchy situations almost immediately, but the difference in stopping power between the M06 and the stock pads was undeniable. Not up to par with my SRAM hydros, but much better than with stock pads. The metal pads stopped quicker but also produced more noise, though not enough to bother me.
Maybe the braking performance would be much better on another bike where the cables don't run through the bars or headset...I should give them another shot on a bike that doesn't route cables like this, maybe on the gravel bike?

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177 To be totally fair, I have very few if any complaints about the 177, tire size not excluded. I'm not at all peeved about the tire clearance as this move is more prompted by me never being happy with my bike stable. The 177 was a perfect fit back in November  ;D
I've always said that VB doesn't even clearly advertise this frame as fitting 32c tires. They simply state 32mm as the maximum tire clearance. Based on my measurements this is true. My tires balloon up to 31.8mm with certain psi numbers and I have no clearance issues. A truly sized 32mm tire should have no issues with clearance.

So true that selling the 177 frame or shelving it would be the best solution, but selling an open mold frame on its own is easier said than done. Maybe a VB gravel frame would be a better alternative, but I'd rather make the 177 work. Now, if anyone is interested in a size M frame with 420x100 one piece bar do let me know  ;D ;D
650b is an interesting idea... I'd rather keep my current wheels, but I'll definitely look into this.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177
Does anyone know where to source the thru axle end caps?
Now that I bought new wheels I wanted to take the shitty ones out, but the front thru Axle end cap was somehow stuck and it finally broke.
Mine also broke. I kept forgetting it was there and would pop it off by removing the axle with the end cap still attached. Eventually it broke, I lost it, and have been riding without it ever since

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177
LOL I had literally the same problem. Looks quite ugly without endcap.
I painted the ugly exposed area that the end cap covers up black with an acrylic marker and it looks ever so slightly better  :D
I wouldn't be surprised if it's starts coming off when I clean it and such.

SOLD: SRAM Force AXS/Eagle XX1 AXS gravel build group Hi, y'all.
I have a mini group for a SRAM AXS mullet build sitting around. Upon the inquiry of a fellow forum member, I figured I should probably sell this in order to finance some more cool bike parts  ;)
I've listed it elsewhere on the net, but figured the folks at my favorite bike related Internet space might be interested as well.
Apologies if SRAM, Shimano, etc...isn't allowed to be listed on here, please do tell and I will remove promptly. :)

The set includes:

SRAM Force AXS shifters
SRAM Force AXS flat mount brake calipers, cut hoses and pads

SRAM Eagle XX1 AXS 12 speed rear derailleur with battery SOLD

You can see photos of everything here on Google drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1FtoDZzv3uD-RYxQSch3OtYyKwbYt5d-r?usp=sharing
Also included in the link above is a short video demonstrating shifting functionality.

Everything included works perfectly. The derailleur and shifters are paired and shift flawlessly. Includes battery but no charger.

The shifters have obvious wear, scratches and scuffs. Involved in a fall of course, but I can assure you functionality is perfect. Please review the photos carefully and ask me all about the wear. Happy to provide more photos.

These have been sitting in the closet since coming to my possession. I don't see myself using this set any time soon...I picked them up used (obviously) on a whim when the opportunity presented itself just because it was a good deal, and I figured SRAM AXS components are dope and I'll get around to using them eventually. Well, I didn't.

Looking for $850, which is what I paid for everything. $420 for shifter/brake set including shipping in the US
I'm primarily looking to sell so I can start a new project, but also interested in trades, mainly for road bike wheelsets atm! But I'll consider just about any other cool bike stuff! What do you got??
SOLD

I'll ship just about anywhere. We'll figure it out.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
I finally received my replacement handlebars from Velobuild, check out this creative packaging, no box just a label taped to this!

I'm starting to believe this is the standard packing method for cockpit parts from China  ;D I've received saddles, seatposts, bars, rotors, and even a 105 crankset packed in a similar fashion.
I once ordered a carbon bar from a US seller and they somehow managed to stick it very tightly into a Flat Rate envelope  ???
