I’d say the resemblance is obvious... they’ve decided to follow Specialized’s frame updates!  ;D

And I even know someone who spent a huge amount of money on an original SL9 frame 🤪

Inevitable!

  • T47
    UDH
    32c
Zero and offset seat post options

They should make an unexpected move and set the maximum tire clearance to 35 or 38 🤯

What's the betting they ditch the wiggly fork steerer.

Well, the question is, do they actually make these frames? same was said of the X68.

Those images may well be from the factory that is in fact making the current bike that numerous sellers are currently selling, and those bikes do not have the wiggly fork but they have attempted something!

That would be both peak trolling and peak smart. Hell I'd consider buying one if it could run the gp5000 in 35c. That and positive stack cockpit.
They could advertise as "we just released the SL11. Sucka".

Holy shit, with that steerer tube, it's safe to expect issues...

Also @Serge_K is it a fake when it has another bottom bracket standard?

Thing that bums me out about Tantan is they have the capacity to really innovate and offer good stuff at a decent price.

I have one of their Cervelo R5 clones (FM239 I think). Mirrors old R5 geometry to the tee. Barely fits a 28c tire. They have a super interesting updated version called the FM231. The geometry is actually pretty crazy. The size closest to my current one gets 7mm more stack but like 25mm more reach. And it fits a 32c minimum. Given that I run a 130mm stem that extra reach would be appreciated. But you have to be a geometry chart dweeb like me to even notice something like this. They would rather just hawk Tarmac/Factor clones. Big missed opportunity

Looks great!

T47 BB is great!

I’ve got the TT65 from Tantan that’s my pride n joy so trust this will be good too hopefully. I’ll recommend this to a friend who’s recently become China curious in terms of bikes wink

Post 2125 in the x68 thread.
They're calling it the new x68.
Obvious sl9 clone but t47.
Hopefully we'll be able to get the zero posts somewhere for our x68's-I want the new style but would never spend the crazy S brand $$

Just came here to say TanTan is just a reseller and uses the same frames as the better counterfeit sellers. Maybe I need to upgrade lol

I thought this was quite interesting.

I’ve been speaking to someone in China who is not connected with TanTan, but who is involved in bringing a frame to market.

According to him, his frame comes from the same factory that produces the TanTan frame. I can’t independently verify that, so take it as information I’ve been given rather than confirmed fact.

He also explained that one of the main reasons factories are producing these popular “inspired” frames is because the market is so slow at the moment. Popular designs generate orders, the factory owner is under pressure to get orders and the frame helps keep production lines running and keeps factory workers employed.

I believe those use the old "Richey" style clamp that the original sl8 zero used. I don't want that. The sl9 zero uses the same style clamp as the 15 and has the same aero profile.

Hi
Maybe old info, but anyway. I just got reply for "New X68" :

The mold for the new version of the TT-X68 frame is still being manufactured.
We need to wait for the sample frame to pass the test before we can start producing the frame and start selling it.
It is expected to be September-October.

We only have 3D pictures and no pictures of the actual frame yet.

TT-X68 new will be in sizes: 49/52/54/56/58/61cm (it is not sure whether the mold will be opened for all frame sizes now)

Hey everyone

Some photos and a geometry chart  for the updated X68
Looks like 35c clearance but I have been told this is provisional and the BB is T47
Photos is a 54cm which will be the first size for sale with the shortest lead time when it becomes available, good job as 54cm is my size  ;D
No Ideas what frame sizes they will be offering as was told "Regarding the full range of sizes, nothing has been finalized yet; we will make a decision based on market demand and sales performance"

Price "As for the price, it should be the same as that of the TT-X68" which is good to here!

I really hope that at least size 58 is suitable, I worry because the new tt-x7 is available up to size 56 only.

I think I prefer this design over VRT or the ICAN one
Massive fork / relatively classic rear

BB deboning can happen on any bike I have seen it on the big brands but obviously it may get handled better but for £500 its throw away so worth a punt IMO.                                               Geo chart saying 35c for clearance but this is still TBC

INFO:

The mold production sequence for the frames is: 54 → 56 → 52 → 49 → 58 → 61 cm.
Molds for the 54, 56, and 52 cm sizes are currently in production.
Orders are expected to open in 30 days, with shipping scheduled for October or November.

This time, I have to disagree with you 😢😁. I'm not necessarily criticizing the fact that the bottom bracket comes loose on such a cheap frame (though that shouldn't happen), but what I find unacceptable is Tantan's complete lack of respect for the consumer. They don't hesitate to ghost people, and I don't appreciate that at all.

Aint No Ballerina!
54cm Frame 893.6g
They have chunked out fork! 440.9g no wiggle steerer so im assuming has same X68 headtube and not slimmed down like SL9.
My X68 forks were 399g and 54cm frame was 798G

I am actually relieved they kept the steerer straight, I think there is a lot of room for something to go wrong with the wonky steerer and I would prefer tantan to stay out of it.

To be Honest mate I’m not sure  I will pull the trigger on this.
Not keen to get something this time round, that looks the same as the SL9.
I’m eyeing up the Lightcarbon LCR20D, I asked about ordering it but was told they are a couple more months away from production and there new riser bars are still being tested.
Bike no 3 will be like the X68 I had for winter  ;D. Aero winter bike won’t look great with mudguards though 😂
What about you? Thinking about it?

I went ahead and ordered the LTK-266-D-SL. Im riding a clone now (Cervelo R5) but the Tarmac SLx stuff is just a bridge too far for me. 266 ticks all the same boxes w/o the stigma.

for winter riding, if one likes big tyres and stiff frames, and modern geometries (high stack), and Pinarello looks, Peter's grevil clone feels very much like a stiff AF road bike. I've done a dozen rides in the mountains with thousands in elevation w it in the past couple of weeks, i'm constantly thinking "man this is stiff" but never am i thinking "i wish i were on a road bike". As far as i can tell, if feels like a road bike that takes 50 or 55C. I miss my Tractor because of the comfort, but this faux grevil is very snappy out of the saddle, reminiscent of 25mm rim brake bikes. I have a 28C front and 32C rear, and it is stiiiiiiff. Today i rode a friend's Cervelo Caledonia, this thing is smooth and fast. The faux grevil is plenty fast, maybe faster, but not smooth :D It kind of feels like a Lambo. Some positively love it, i am very unsure myself, and absolutely not my idea of a daily driver.
