Re: WheelTop EDS TX Full Wireless Groupset (Chinese SRAM)
I dont buy my bikes on aliexpress and i've had several warranty issues / goodwill instances when my counterparts did the right thing. I've had 2 or 3 warranty / crash claims with Farsports, i've had velobuild send me their updated C rings free of charge, i've received wheels that were centerlock after ordering 6 bolt and received adaptors free of charge. I've had a derailleur replaced free of charge & received a bunch of freebies. You're still kind of missing my point. Most people don't want to do all this research and build relationships with online vendors and all that. They just want to see and touch a bike, buy it and ride it. So if you want people to get more familiar and comfortable with Chinese brands, Chinese brands have to sell the same way as the big boys. Personally I am not bothered if someone who knows nothing about Chinese brands thinks they are low quality death traps. It's not my job to educate strangers. I build bikes for myself, not to impress and educate random people. March 28, 2024, 03:15:15 PM |

Re: Supersix / Soloist / Addict lookalikes in 32C in 2024?
PS: really feels like we've reached peak bike, one really needs a trained eye to tell bikes apart...I think we have just reached peak UCI restrictions but I have probably summoned a new level of pedantry from them.. Carbonda CFR 1056? March 29, 2024, 09:14:44 PM |

Re: Winspace SCL 2 disc
Nice bike! Looks big for a 52. Did you manage to weigh the frame?

Re: Tavelo Aero Frame
Actually I must apologise, I misunderstood what tavelo is and can understand their prices now. They're not a bike company, they're a marketing company selling bikes, it's like specialized on steroids. They charge this much because they can. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what the value proposition product is if it sells.I think this is overly cynical. Ultimately, all carbon road bikes are luxury goods. Even the cheapest Tiagra build. So there is some form of "value", but it's not the typical add up all the components on a spreadsheet and divide by $. A lot of it is intangible. The big selling point for Western brands IMO is pro Peleton credibility. If your bike is in the TdF or other big pro races, it's legit and the sky is the limit on pricing. Unless I'm mistaken, that's exactly how Giant and Canyon went from run of the mill OEMs to premium bike sellers. In fact the only big Western brand I can think of that isn't in the pro circuit is Factor. So IMO all brands like SEKA and Tavelo need to do to legitimize their brands is get in the pro circuit. They don't even have to be that good. Personally IDGAF about pro cycling nor would I pay more for a bike on TV. But someone could easily come up with reasons why even a cheap Aliexpress build is a waste of money. May 10, 2024, 10:45:34 AM |

Re: Tavelo Aero Frame
A bit much of negativity here…blaming companies to make money especially when considering the „mark up” of western brands. Which most likely have the same origin in the Eastern.I don't think people are being overly negative, just objectively questioning the value of these frames. For example I just ordered a TanTan frame set. For $800 or whatever with custom paint etc. I'm OK with being pretty much on my own for support and losing damn near all the frame's value on resale. Western brands bikes are already hurting value wise- how much do you think a $2000+ lesser known Chinese brand frame will go for on the used market? It's kind of a false economy IMO May 13, 2024, 06:30:16 AM |

Re: Tavelo Aero Frame
Maybe reselling is a point….however not for me…and besides that I would never buy a used carbon frame.I mean, Giant went from a kind of no name OEM to a top road bike brand by doing 2 things. 1 getting bikes in the Tour, and 2 getting into brick and mortar stores for better sales and service support. That's pretty much all these brands have to do to justify what they are charging. May 13, 2024, 01:14:45 PM |

Show me your flat bar commuter builds
I want to build something more "fun" and casual for around town stuff and I think I'm gonna do a cheap gravel build with flat bars and wide but slick tires. Would love to see what frames and group sets people are running (and what kind of weights people are ending up at).

Re: Why I bought from China - these two things cost the same!
They are only priced that much because there are people who can pay that much. Not worth getting upset about

Tantan FM639 (you have to see the paint)
When I pulled it out of the box I was speechless https://imgur.com/Ydi4Bdy Going for a semi weight/watt weenie build; build sheet says it should be about 6.5kg with pedals but we will see. June 28, 2024, 02:58:57 PM |
