Re: Magene P325 CS - First Impressions
Nice review !

Why didnt you buy a 4iiii .. recognize brand, and a canadian cie !
I got the left side Ultegra from their store .

I have mine for 5 months so far, no complaints .

Thanks!
A few reasons:
1) for the price of a single side 4iii refurb, I got a dual power meter plus chainrings
2) I did think about 4iii, but that’d have necessitated sourcing the drive side separately, which would have increased my costs
3) But mainly, my challenge was to build a bike almost exclusively with Chinese brands. I dubbed my bike the MIC (Made in China) Mark I (the implication being that as Chinese parts improve, my n+1 will be MIC Mk 2)

Working with some of the manufacturers directly, you can really tell they are trying to shed the made in China stigma with their products.

Re: Recommendations for a carbon saddle?
I ordered one of these based on the previous recommendations. Waiting for it to arrive any day now. I’m closer to 89 Kg or so, so we’ll see how long it lasts! Would be a huge weight savings compared to my Specialized Power Comp.

If it helps, I think I know when it happened.
I was sitting a bit forward in the saddle at around 35kph, and encountered an unexpected bump in the road.

This made my bottom slam into the saddle, as I was didn’t anticipate the bump. This resulted  in a large dynamic load placed on the nose of the saddle, and I heard a crack at the time.
Stopped to inspect, but didn’t notice anything until I got home.

Looks small enough to patch though

Re: Sensah Empire Pro Carbon 2x12 photos and weights
So, I was looking at part compatibility. So, is the same empire rear derailleur used for 11 and 12?

SENSAH Rear Derailleur 11/12 Speed LONG Cage
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mMKYPXv

On the Sensah Store, they have the 11S and an 11/12S Derailleur.  The 11S is short, so may not be able to accommodate the 32T cassette.
But the long one should be fine.

I can vouch for the insane High/Low limit range available on the 12S (or 11/12S) derailleur

Re: New Wheel Day - Elite Wheels BWT Disc
Hi ,

Wheredid you see the noise level of the R07 ?
I cannot seethe dbsound level in the spec.

In fact I am looing for a quiet wheel from the vendor but they not not provide the DB noise level of the hub

If you follow the link below, it goes to a product page specifically for the RD07.
There should be a radar chart showing the different properties of the hub

Re: New Wheel Day - Elite Wheels BWT Disc
Ok thank you.

More general question - having previously lived in TO I couldn't imagine commuting via bike with the streetcars and poor drivers. You are brave!

Haha Thanks!  You'd be surprised how many bike lanes have popped up in Toronto over the last few years.
That being said, I commute around Wilson Rd near Downsview, and if I need to do a long ride, I go out to Pickering/Durham

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Are we talking about the HB010 and HB011 from OG evkin, or vélo build?

I can't seem to find them on the velobuild website

The Velobuild options.

Re: Thinkrider X5 Neo -UPDATE Done!  Order placed!

Will have to see what brokers fees, duties, and taxes come out to when it hits Canadian shores, but unit price is expected to be between $600 to $650.

A touch more than anticipated.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
I'm all for losing weight and am trying to do it as much as possible with my 168, however there is no way I'd trust such a small and light expander on a carbon steerer tubed fork, especially for the sake of 30g of weight saving.

There's no science behind this and its my opinion only, however I'd put the longer, stock expander back in if only for peace of mind.

Agreed. I would even go as fast as saying this is one area where I might sacrifice  a few grams but purchasing a longer expansion sleeve. I haven't... But the thought crossed my mind

Re: Elite Wheels - Hubs Question & Tubeless vs Clincher
As far as I know tubeless rims have different hooks on the side of the rim than the clinchers. I think they are bigger or more prominent or something else to help the tubeless tyres to achieve a good seal. So it is true that clincher rims will not accommodate tubeless tyres but the tubeless rims can fit clinchers. I have gp5000s on my tubeless wheels at the moment and did not have a problem with it. I also had pro one tle tubeless tyres before but after having 3 punctures in a week I ditched the whole concept of tubeless and went back to clinchers.

I have tried many wheelsets with different hubs but all of them had the same flaw. Most of the pawl based hubs are annoyingly loud. I hate that. Then I tried the dtswiss 350 hub with an 18 teeth star ratchet system and I can say it is a huge difference. They are really quiet. So for me the extra $100 would totally worth it.

One thing I am keen to try out are the dtwiss star ratchet copycat hubs on ali. Also the RD13 hub from elitewheels is such a dtswiss copy.

I've never used DT Swiss, but I have no complaints with the RD13

Re: Elite Wheels - Hubs Question & Tubeless vs Clincher
Having almost no flats, and lower pressure for comfort are worth the small effort even for pure road riding.
Everybody could try a pair of tubeless tires once, use them until they die or being fed up, and make their own idea of it, instead of reading forums  ;)
In any case if you are shopping for new rims, take tubeless and get both options.

In line with what you are saying, I tried tubeless.  Don't know if I am head over heels in love with it compared to tubes, but I probably wont be going back.
Then again, I am using Michelin Power Road, which apparently are super easy to mount and I have an air compressor...
