Re: Workswell WCB-R-306
I just received my Workswell 306 frameset.
It’s my first carbon frame and I noticed that the wall thickness of the fork steerer tube is uneven.

https://imgur.com/a/JVwcxuZ

What do you think, is it within tolerance and safe to ride?

It's funny, worskwell makes some of the most expensive frames in the OEM realm, and all we read about them on this forum is how badly they F up.
My honest answer to your question: idk. I suspect that if you install stuff properly, like the expansion plug is well aligned with the stem and so on, you'll probably be fine. However, given how much you paid, there's the question of should you accept that. And then, i'd email a carbon expert with a photo and ask them. there are several on youtube. I think if you email them a picture, they should give you an informed opinion (specify the thickness of material where it's thinnest and thickest, and I assume the layup is clean (no sign of delamination and so on).
The most / worst road accidents i know of from equipment failure i know of are steerer tube / stem clamping area on the steerer tube. If you think about forces, leverage and so on, the forces that part of the frame has to take when you ride into a pothole at 40kmh are concentrated right there.

Re: Workswell WCB-R-306
Yeah...then no wonder some countries get blacklisted and companies decide to stop working with certain markets.

Whenever I get Karens, they get the full amount. No discounts, and I even invite them to go elsewhere.

In my view workswell did it right. They propose a new fork. U don't want the full pack it's up to u to refund. And since this is custom, having a full refund except for the shipping of the frame is already not a bad deal

You're basically insulting the poor guy here, it's unfair. Workswell is very expensive, they claim to be top end , yet they ship oval things that should be round. You may be fine that your girlfriend only has one leg but most people would want a girlfriend with two legs. To me it's not unreasonable to ship the whole thing back on the basis of having lost trust in the seller. He's paying premium, he shouldn't get worse product and service than an AliExpress airwolf frame. His mistake was to work with workswell in the first place.

Re: Workswell WCB-R-306 Based on their original approach and the last message sent to you, I'd suggest returning the frameset with a full refund as they offered. Even now, when they got kicked by the mediator, they still act like kids with all this "understanding of Workswell Bikes" and "high reputation for premium quality" crap instead of going straight to the business.

May I ask what the price for this pReMiUm is? 1200$? I've heard they're above average price.

Re: Workswell WCB-R-306 Nice case study. On the one hand, we have a customer who makes a purchase in exchange for a supposedly quality product. But clearly this is lacking. A fork is not an accessory, it is an integral part of the bike and in this sense, the buyer's request seems legitimate to me. What bothers me in this type of story is ultimately the company's defense angle. It starts with a philanthropic speech but the buyer may have eaten pasta for weeks, months to buy a nice frame. So yes, depending on the country, culture, etc., everyone will read this fact differently.

Re: Workswell WCB-R-306
If you or someone feels insulted, it was not my intention.
What I mean is that nowadays there is a feeling of impunity. Anyone can contest everything because of this or that. And they also feel that just because store X or Y do this, all stores do the same (like providing free returns after 30 days)
I don't care about workswell or any other factory. As I mentioned already in several posts, I choose the factories/brands/services that I work with based on their my experience with their customer support. They seemed to offer a good compromise. If the user is not happy, it's not unreasonable to ask him to pay the shipping costs of what was ok. And even accepting it is already an act of good will. Unfortunately there are a lot of smartasses which try to take advantage of similar situations.

If someone asks me to do build/paint/do sth custom and because of a scratch in the paint, which can easily be repainted, he wants to return the full amount and doesn't want the product back, my business would die soon. And yes. It's not paint here. It's just about being reasonable.

I do agree with you that sometimes customers are completely unreasonable. I've experienced it, it's painful.
Not the case here on this thread though, with a premium price point not getting the most basic of shapes right. Just like buying fork spacers, you'd expect the spacer to have an even wall around the hole, not something oval. It can hardly be more basic.
It's like Peak Torque calling out Tavelo for making BB shells that crack if you install a BB, it's insane. If you can't get the most basic of things right, you can't call yourself a bike brand, let alone charge premium prices.

Re: OEM/manufacture for Benotti Fuoco Aero SL? Most people on this forum who bought from workswell have bad things to say. And the "we won't sell to you" may depend on jurisdiction, and business activity.
Either way from what I can tell they have a very high error rate, they're very expensive, and their only arguments as to why are non sensical to me.

Re: the new Van Rysel RCR-F I mean this is not a bike for the "budget conscious rider" but for the world tour pros. Can't walk into a Mercedes dealership ask for a Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé and expect an A-Class price tag.

For what it is, it is still priced below what other brands ask. The aforementioned S-Works comes out at 14.500€ whereas this is 9.500€ - that's a whopping 50% added on top. The Trek starts at 13.500€. The only one that is in the same price region is Canyon. And I am not sure you can actually compare the Aeroad to the RCR-F. Even the other two from Trek and Specialized framesets look less "beefy" as in less aero - which is supposed to be the main spiel of this thing.

So, would I buy this? No, most definitely not. But then again I am far from a world tour pro. Do I find this thing interesting and would love to ride it for a test? Well, heck yeah!

But we are digressing: the actual question was, is there anything like it on the Chinese frameset market. I haven't seen anything, and I would be surprised to see something comparable within a year. I like to be surprised though!

Re: Seraph Bikes Superlight 836g X68 - Alternative to SL8 Fakes?
Serge, are you behind the AI ? Because, you talked about the lack of resin :D.

Hehe. If you look at a steerer tube, or carbon bits like a derailleur cage, versus the photo of the shattered fork, and then look at videos from people who use non pre preg carbon (easy composites UK on yt, for eg), the fork looks like it's basically carbon strands without enough resin. If you brake a steerer in two, you don't have long loose strands like that, it's more like a crunchy chocolate bar with a matrix of chocolate and crunchy bits in it. That fork looks like it's all crunchy bits and no matrix. And the only reason why carbon fiber is strong is the resin matrix. The fibers are useless without it.

So, here, we have ultra light frames, seatposts that crack, forks that implode, BBs that creak from new, how many more elements do we need to get a mental model of how tight a ship tamtam is running?

Also, if you almost die on that bike, and it's a counterfeit, as your insurance company, I'd probably say that you're on your own.

JUST FOR INFO

Mine ttx 68 (white waved wheels)

alrdy    1000km on it
speed:  25-33km/h
95% road / used pavement cracks / fixed cracks
           5% gravel

issues is BB is creaking on higher watt output (but not always)  -   will check if bb is greased ......
Handlebar spacer rubbing / grinding  on  frame so the paint in a little area  under the spacer  is gone / scrachted

no fatal issues so far

Lol. Had there been a fatal issue, by definition, you'd be posting on the forum from heaven. Pretty sure hell doesn't have wifi.
Creaky BB so early on is likely either user error, or poor manufacturing tolerances. Or both.

All of that from a lust for specialized vibe. Marketing done well.

Re: Seraph Bikes Superlight 836g X68 - Alternative to SL8 Fakes?
But I think we need to be cautious about jumping to sweeping conclusions based on one incident. There are plenty of frames from reputable brands (and even high-end ones) that have experienced sudden failures too.

I dont disagree, i was just explaining my thought process and how i do white list, black list, and grey list. I've been on this forum for fairly long time, since back when everyone was buying velobuild frames. This was post the era when velobuild was shipping dog shit. My first 4 chinese frames were VB. before choosing VB, i looked at the market, and back then already, you could find a LOT of weird horror stories from tantan and workswell, in particular. dengfu also had a very checkered track record.
I build bikes for me & friends, and i dont want a bitter, let alone traumatic experience attached to any of it (several Winspace stories recently). So given the competition, i ultimately picked sellers for the dozen frame and dozen+ wheelsets i've ordered that didnt have that history of regularly peddling dangerous garbage. I'm quite familiar with the concept of statistical risk, and there are trades that in my mind aren't worth taking for their risk reward profile. Essentially, if you can avoid it, what do you gain from buying from a seller with a documented history of catastrophic failures? That's just a bad trade.
Specialized is no stranger to catastrophic failures, from steerer tubes to sworks frames disintegrating during a crash, but that fork failure is next level incompetence. Based on what's been explained, it implies that you should expect that your bike could simply self destruct at any time, for no reason. No thanks :) I know I worry too much, but that's a key reason why my friends are happy to ride my bikes, they know their house nerd has worried about stuff they dont even know about.

They’ll probably just check their production record (if there even is any) and come up with no root cause.
Let’s see how this turns out…

+1. The probability they come back with anything substantial is low enough that i'm happy to bet against it.

Re: Python Citius - Danish Private label?
They actually hide some models.
It'clearly reported on the web site
To see every model available you need to create an account
Nope, I created it to see what they were hiding and still kept denying me access to these frames while only presenting the same ones everyone can see...
