Re: Lightcarbon LCG071-D Build Hi All, the frame finally arrived last week, and was able to build the bike. I have to say I'm really happy with how the build turned out and with the quality of the frameset and paint. So far I've only ridden the bike for about ~130km so I still need more time to do a full report on the ride quality, but so far it feels really comfortable and reactive.

ICAN A40 Build Hello dear Chinertown community!

I became aware of this forum in June because I wanted a new road bike but was not prepared to pay the high prices of the mainstream.
I've learned a lot, discussed a lot and even shared a tip or two.
Now I would like to present you my first build, which I finalised the day before yesterday.
The first real ride will take place tomorrow. So far, it's only been a short adjustment ride of 15 km. Everything feels good and round.

In this thread (http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4254.msg46760.html#msg46760) I was looking for tips for my first build.
After a long search through the forum and various manufacturers, I came across the ICAN A40 (identical in construction to the Cinelli Pressure), which I finally ordered.

Here I was looking for the right wheels (http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4325.msg49032.html#msg49032 . A separate thread about the wheels can now be found here: http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4444.msg50685.html#msg50685 )

...and this is what has now emerged:

Specifications (all prices rounded up):
Frame incl. stem steering unit, headset, seatpost etc... (800 euros incl. tax and shipping).
+ custom paint (200 euros)
shifting group incl. crank... etc... (Ultegra DI2 2x11 - 8050/8070 version - except chain and cassette and junction box, bought separately on ebay classifieds (used) - total approx. 700 Euro - parts look like new)
Chain, cassette (11-30) and junction box (for in the handlebar plugs) NEW - 150 Euro
Wheels: Elite Edge Disc 65 mm (500 Euro incl. tax and shipping)
GP5000 tyres, 28 mm (I still had used ones at home)
Carbon saddle (26 Euro / AliExpress / https://de.aliexpress.com/item/32961988965.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.121.7a255c5fpus40b&gatewayAdapt=glo2deu)
Carbon bottle cage (14 Euro / AliExpress / https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005005266348973.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.151.7a255c5fpus40b&gatewayAdapt=glo2deu )
Miscellaneous (hydraulic brake line, handlebar tape, internal line damping, cable ties, rim tape, Wahoo holder... etc. - all AliExpress) (approx. 50 Euro)

Currently still equipped with normal "heavy butyl hoses".
7.67 kg. Weight (without pedals, bottle cage and bike computer).
But will be changed to TPU tubes as soon as they arrive from the Far East.
Then we will be under 7.5 kg

Total price, even if I've forgotten something, under 2,500 euros (2,440 euros).

Re: Lightcarbon: New LCR017-D (or Yishun R1058-D) Okay okay... A little spoiler.

Re: Lightcarbon: New LCR017-D (or Yishun R1058-D) I've just finished the bike and don't want to withhold the first pictures from you.  :D

If you like, I'll be happy to create a separate thread for the build, with decent pictures and what the riding impression is like.

As it's a pretty wet winter here at the moment and I'm working until dark, I won't be able to start the first test drive until next weekend at the earliest  :'(

Re: Yishun R086-D Aero Road After 11 rides logging 650mi/1050km with 36 hours in the saddle...I can confidently and enthusiastically say THIS FRAME RIPS!

Rider Stats
Height: 175cm
Weight: 70kg
Inseam: 80cm
Saddle Height: 69cm

Bike Build
Frame: Yishun R086D 50cm (I normally ride a 54cm)
Cockpit: Yishun HB058 40cm Handlebars / ST062 130mm Stem (no spacers)
Components: SRAM Force AXS Hydraulic 48 x 10/28
Wheels: Elitewheels Drive 50D
Tires: Panaracer Agilest TLR 30mm with Muc-off sealant
Total Weight w/ Pedals: 7.7kg / 17lbs

Why the R086D?
As a road/crit/gravel racer, CdA is very important to me.  The vast majority of drag comes from our own body and let's be honest, modern road bikes have long since reached peak efficiency.  My parameters in order of importance: (1) geometry, (2) fit and finish, (3) looks, and (4) affordability/sustainability.

(1), (4), and mostly (3) are knowable prior to purchase. A quick note on (4), I race a lot of crits so spending top $$$$ on a brand name is a value proposition my psyche couldn't handle. As mentioned, modern layups have come a long way. We're in an era of diminishing returns.

When it comes to speed, an aero optimized position is the 2nd-most important facet and the R086's geometry is exactly what I was looking for. Many feel it's too aggressive and that may be true for the majority of riders but there are many that *do desire* to perform well on fast group rides or sportives. Marc Graveline, inventor/founder of one of worlds first aerometers cited an average 22 watt savings to an aero-optimized rider. The speed is there if you want it.

I logged rides of 4:28, 3:04, 6:06, 3:19, 8:24, and 4:09 hours over rough desert roads in New Mexico, USA and despite having back issues from a crash in October the R086D came through with flying colors in terms of comfort. I also did a 1:38 smashfest in a 3-man breakaway with most the time in the drops with no pain or discomfort (other than lactate).

Some footage to get a sense of geometry...

Hoods:

Drops:

I love its looks, the black matte finish is both fantastic and resilient. It's been suggested as an analog to the Canyon Aeroad but I think it also bears resemblance to a Pinarello. I was convinced someone else on this past Sunday's group ride had a Yishun and it was only after a meet-n-greet at a rest step did I determine it was actually a Pinarello (F or Dogma, not sure)...same matte finish (w/ black lettering), same speed-sniffer and flare at the top of the downtube.

Referring back to my parameters, we're left with - and let's face it, the elephant in the room when you're dealing with brands based in Xiamen (2) fit and finish. I'm happy to report the unit I received was flawless (wish I could say the same for the wheels). Caveats below notwithstanding, this bike was a pleasure to build. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to find a friction-free headset cap without the need of a 0.25mm micro-shim that several had suggested in this thread.

Things to know:
1) Torque guess is as good as mine...
Don't bother looking for instructions in the box because there aren't any.  As other's have noted, only a few items have torque specs stamped on them but Dark17 was kind enough to reach out to Elitewheels to get some general guidelines. From there, it's a bit of trial and error. I initially set the seat post bolt to 9Nm only to have it slide but 11Nm did the trick. Similar issue with the handlebar clamp bolts.

And while I went ahead and stuck caps (A) into the rear/front derailleur and Di2 holes, I still have no idea what B and C were intended for.

2) Go Long!
The rear disc brake flat mount requires not 27mm...not 32mm...but 37mm bolts. I had to order a set and wait a few days.

3) Keep your head(set) straight
I had forgotten to apply carbon paste to the steerer tube so the headset/cable routing cap started skewing left.  While away from home for 2 weeks, I stuck in a rubber gasket for the time being and that did the trick until I could get home and apply the proper fix.  WARNING: Avoid the urge to over-torque if this happens to you. Apply paste, tighten the compression plug to around 6Nm, remove slack then tighten the clamp bolts to 6Nm and you should be fine.

4) Braze On, Braze Off
I made the silly mistake of assuming the braze on bolts were properly torqued from the factory and spent a good hour trying to figure out why my chain kept dropping.

Thank you to the many in this forum who bring awareness to the largely under-appreciated products that come out of the Red Dragon. Special shoutout to Patty who produces wonderful content and helps us all make informed decisions!

Re: Lightcarbon: New LCR017-D (or Yishun R1058-D) Hello everyone,

a short update on my experiences with the LCR017-D in combination with the Elite Edge 45 mm.

I have just returned from my 1-week training camp in Mallorca and after almost 1,000 km and thousands of meters of altitude, I am more than happy to have built this bike.
It just feels right and is a true all-rounder.
At the front in the wind in the group on the flat - up the mountains - down the mountains. There is nothing to complain about.

Here are a few pictures from Mallorca.

Re: Tideace NEW Gravel Frame: GR201
I think Tantan is the manufacturer, Tideace is a reseller but i'm not sure

I think you are right. Longteng (LTK) seems that is another reseller.

In the Instagram posts from TanTan they include in the description that they accept OEM and ODM.

I do have for example a Megamo Track frame that is made by TanTan and is also used if I am not wrong by Ridley.

I wouldn't be surprised if any brand that uses open mould frames includes this frame in their catalog.

Re: Tideace NEW Gravel Frame: GR201 Let me know what you think  I have enjoyed my @canyon Grizl for three years and I will certainly continue to do so. But the Grizl is an all-rounder that does not excel in pure speed. That's why I decided to build a new gravel bike.

After an extensive search for a suitable gravel frame, I came across @Tideace. They have been supplying very nice gravel and road frames for years and the N.O.A.H. gravel immediately caught the eye. A modern geometry with a robust look.

Build the complete bike last week and today the first test ride. First feeling: "how fast and direct this bike is". I'm completely turned now! This is what I am currently looking for in a gravel bike.
I will share som building tips on my Instagram account. @cyclewithjouke in the weeks.

Below you will find the complete setup:

Frame: @Tideace NOAH
Handlebar: Lexon Unox 40cm gravelbar
Wheels: @zipp 303 s XPLR
Tyres: @Goodyear 45mm XPLR slicks
Groupset: @Sram XPLR
Front chainring: 40t @alugear
OSPW: @Novaride
Saddle: @prologo Scratch M5 Nack (Carbon)
Pedals: @Garmin rally
