I would say yes, a larger moment is being exerted on the connection point because of this.

I tried using some from AliX and they broke on my MTB, and JUST after I finished a hectic descent. Could've caused a massive crash. Although I love the wider Q being a tall dude, I will never run them again on any bike. I just wish companies would introduce cranks with variable Q-factor.

Re: Please start using Mywhoosh? I went from Zwift to MyWhoosh. I really don’t care about the social aspect or virtual racing. I’m looking for structured training and that’s where MyWhoosh is just better than Zwift. And it’s free. So that’s a no brainer. Wahoo SYSTM is nice but the videos and especially the subs IMO are cringe worthy. Also I don’t need to stare at ten year old pro races to stay motivated. And the yoga and mental lessons are not worth the monthly rate for me. I rather use MyWhoosh and spend that money elsewhere.

I used to have connection issues with MyWhoosh. But it seems they’ve ironed out those bugs. Now it’s reliable.

Re: Let's make the slickest bike on the planet Got the BB delivered today, and while i am definetly sure i am going to be worrying about chainline soon, it all installed smoothly. Already got the shifters fastened with the oilslicked Risk screws (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008070271473.html). I guess i can do the white hoses in the frame next. For brake adapaters there are some stupidly expensive ones here. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009329523585.html - not getting those yet i think.



Still not gonna be putting this thing between my legs till i get a headset and still haven't sorted out a 12spd cassette.
Just threw on a few more parts and had a look. Apologies for shitty pics! Everything is wrong on the bike, not just those weird 650B wheels which i have to run with a 15->12mm adapter.



I should offer an in-depth look at all the little pieces of prime-time-classic chinerbike bits-and-bobs the crankset is made out of! We've got Risk, Riderace, Tanke, IXF, VXM and Hassns all in one. I am going to look into anodizing a set of raw 700c aluminium rims somehow. A few big chunks are in place already and we'll soon be operational, but perfecting this build will take quite some time.

We are obviously far from done  8)

Re: Suspension Seatposts - anyone actually have experience with the varieties on Ali just to relate my experience - BUYER BEWARE

i'll begin by saying that as a short 5ft 7in / 1.7m tall bloke & light weighing approx 10st 7lbs / 66kg (wringng wet) with normal length legs i :

    *     can just stand over the frames of my 2 x mtb's without squashing my dangly bits against the top tube
    *     ride 165mm crank arms (have to!)

across those two mtb's i have seatposts that are :

    *     30.9 (whyte)
    *     31.6 (ritchey)

both of which comfortably allow height adjustment well within safety limits / minimum required insertion points in seat tube as specified by manufacturer

i recently purchased two "zoom suspension" seatposts ie. pic enclosed is of the 31.6 widely available @ aliex

at no point was a minimum insertion length in the seat tube indicated

when they arrived @ 350mm they looked very much shorter than both my existing ritchey & whyte seatposts but in most of what i'd read pre-purchase are deemed very long

ignoring any potential issue with sag from just sitting on the suspension seatpost, ie. setting things with same height / fore&aft / angle settings as current i am massively disappointed that in order to use either zoom seatpost then i'd have to :

    *     find atleast 20mm to reach minimum insertion point in seat tube
    *     chop length of my legs
    *     stop wearing padded shorts
    *     ride bare foot
    *     buy saddles with greater stack height
    *     ride crank arms over 185mm!

i conclude they are hopeless for anyone :

    *     over a maximum of 5ft 5in
    *     doesn't have a ridiculously high seat tube

am therefore back to square one looking to find a version of suspension seatpost that is considerably longer than 350mm with better minimum insertion point

I discovered this forum in July and have spent an intense few months reading threads and bookmarking information while researching my own (road) frame purchase. To make sense of it all, I compiled my notes and bookmarks into a database that might be useful to others, especially people new to buying bike frames from China, perhaps doing their first road frame build: bikeframeindex (dot) com

What it is:
A summary of my research comparing popular Chinese carbon road frames on here, Weight Weenies, YouTube and Reddit. Each entry synthesizes what I found across hundreds of forum posts about geometry, quality, reliability, and value. It's of course quite biased toward my own priorities, and i'll underline that I am quite risk averse, but I've tried to capture trending issues and recurring themes from community discussions.

What's included:
  • Technical specifications and build comparisons (index page)
  • Tire clearance, BB standards, compatibility details (index page)
  • Community feedback synthesis/trends, mainly from Chinertown threads (ratings page) with quality and reliability patterns I noticed
  • EDIT: A two-tier ranking, between frames which seem to have overwhelmingly strong feedback and other frames, some with mixed feedback or too few entries
Limitations:
Some emerging frames like the Lightcarbon LCR018-D aren't included - first deliveries are just hitting the market now, so there isn't enough feedback yet. I've mentioned the new Tideace frame, not more. The selection reflects frames with more history or community discussion at the time I was researching. Some models like the LTK 268-D is “bundled” within the VB thread and has fewer entries but some of the mentions suggest it could be a notch better in terms of build. To call this dataset statistically significant would be wrong, but the level of knowledge and dedication on here and other forums makes the feedback highly credible in my opinion.

What's next:
I plan to add more frames in quarterly batch updates as feedback accumulates. If there's interest, I'd welcome community suggestions for which frames to research and add next. I’ve not considered Gravel frames or TT frames, just because I don’t look for any. I own my dream build gravel bike so road frames was top of mind, but if the site seems to deliver on its purpose- helping others in my shoes, I won’t exclude adding other categories over time.

No commercial interests:
No affiliate links or monetization - this is just my research notes made public. I've added placeholders in the code for Google ads in case I bother with that later, but no plans currently.

Check it out and let me know your thoughts. Constructive feedback welcome. This is an iterative process, meaning that I've published a MVP with the ambition to improve on it continuously.

Edit/updates:
Actions taken regarding feedback below, which is very helpful in improving the site. Focus was on the "ratings" page where I've scrapped the points leading to the ranking and instead created two tiers which are neutral amongst the frames. Some minor tweaks and typos corrected.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets Really surprised there's not more noise about the LTWOO ER7 groupset, with discounts I managed to get it for £278.37......

it's got a the different rear mech without the swinging link, the front mech looks very similar to the ERX and the shifters have the newer ergonomic hoods and levers - they are probably alloy levers though.

Now on to the shifters and some other subtle differences, there is a bluetooth function that does not appear on my Gen 3 ERX levers that allows the app to update the shifter firmware, also I can only get the ER7 rear mech to pair with the supplied ER7 shifters.

I tried to pair the mech with some EGR shifters and it won't find them - however I can get the new ER7 shifters to pair with the older Gen3 ERX mech

Also firmware - my ERX mech is at 1.7 and the ER7 is at 1.2 - for some reason I was thinking they'd be the same because i'd assumed the internals would be the same, clearly not.

Other changes, the rear mech has an extended cable port and a cable loop clip, and the function button seems to be in a much more convenient position.
