Re: LTK266-D-SL, lightweight frame confirmed under 800g w/paint and accessories (M) You might need a better reference before deciding if this is the bike for you. I suggest demoing or riding some road bikes to get a better feel if a bike fit is out of the question.

My road "race" bike is 30mm lower stack with the same length reach as the gravel race bike I use for events like Unbound. However, my fit reflects the ability to fold myself into a relatively long and low position on both bikes, which is only sustainable as long as I remain very fit. This is typical for people who race both disciplines or at least race on gravel and train on the road. The difference lies mainly in the primary aero position being on the hoods on the road and more mixed between the hoods and the drops on gravel.

I think it's more common for enthusiasts to go 20-30mm longer (including stem length) and 10-20mm lower on their "fast" road bikes vs. their gravel bikes.

In addition to the stack and reach, the LTK266 might also be a problem for you in terms of saddle position. Both the M and the S have a much steeper seat tube angle and no option for a setback post, so it will position you further forward. Further forward and lower will likely make you much more aerodynamic but will also put more weight on your hands unless you are a fit rider who can sustain a relatively high power output for your weight.

The LCR018 is an example of the "newer" endurance bike geometries that are super short, allowing the rider to sit upright and put most of their weight through the saddle. It's recycling the geometry that was used for women's bikes in the 2010s (like Pinarello's Easy Fit line) and is still used by Liv. If you can find a Giant/Liv dealer near you, the Liv Langma in a size L is the closest bike to the 540 LCR018, followed by the Giant Defy in Size ML. This type of bike is ideal for many people who want to undertake long rides and prefer a more upright riding position.

do you just stuff it in the seatpost?
Leftover bar tape is a good way to fit a battery in a seatpost as the tapered profile allows you easily adjust the diameter by overlapping more or less.

just sent a message to the email above, already ordered a new groupset and wheels so might as well go all out and get a new frame as well. i had a couple of questions though what sort of seatpost retention is used i cant see it in any of the photos, also with an electronic groupset how is the battery stored? do you just stuff it in the seatpost?

i have never bought a frame direct what sort of options are available paintwise? somebody mentioned choosing lacquere finish, i really like that white black and gold from when it was on show

They provide the Di2 battery holder for the seatpost.

Coming from MTB, there might be parallels to the tinkering solution called "Shigura" which describes Shimano brake levers paired with Magura calipers. The problem is that the calipers need much more oil volume than the shimano ones (and compounding that, Magura has 2.0mm brake rotors compared Shimano's 1.8mm), so the reservoir in the levers is too small. So if you use a Shimano rotor and the brake pads (or/and disc) are worn, you are getting to the point that you can no longer build up pressure, because you run out of oil. The tinkerers running this combo normally are aware of this and often bleed the brake at like half-pad-wear (actually overfilling the brake - resetting it like this would pop the reservoir) to not run out of braking juice. So yes, too small a reservoir can lead to brake failure.

That said, I agree that both brakes failing at the same time is still strange. It might be that one brake stopped working properly, leading to the rider compensating and overusing the other one and actually boiling the liquid or destroying/glazing the pads. But that's pure speculation.

At any rate, any trustworthy company would launch a serious investigation after something like this happened. On the other hand, in days of social media and viral stories destroying companies/lives with little regard for truth, I can somewhat understand Magene's "official" reaction to not react in any way that could construed as an admission of guilt. If this happened with Shimano and Sram groupset, they wouldn't react with "Yeah, might be our fault". How long did it take Shimano to admit their cranks were falling apart? I would expect that internally, they are looking into this really carefully, but maybe I'm just naive.  Time will tell.

I suspect they didn't actually fail at the same time. The rear likely failed first and the user didn't realize it as they likely used both levers when braking and the front brake is what you primarily feel and focus on modulating to avoid going over the handlebars.

The excuse Magene gave for not allowing Luke to show the video of the backing plates grabbing the rotor doesn't make a lot of sense. No judge is going to find Magene financially liable for a crash with pads worn down to the backing plates. Demonstrating a basic last ditch safety feature that exists on every other hydraulic braking system wouldn't change that, and would reassure us that if we're negligent, their brakes will warn us and do what they can to bail us out.

Additionally, not publishing the fluid volume(and brake line length) in the system doesn't instill confidence. How bad was the brake bleed? I've done a subpar brake bleed before which resulted in a bit of a spongy shimano lever. Would that bleed have taken out my brakes on the QED groupset? If the measured volume of oil was egregiously low, nobody would worry, knowing they could follow the Park Tools tutorial reasonably well. If this piece of information were published, we could also replicate the issue ourselves and be sure of the cause.

As it stands, it's still possible that this user

1) Picked some lightweight rotors that the brakes should be able to handle
2) Picked some official magene resin brake pads
3) Wore down said pads to a reasonable level for a hydraulic brake system to be able to handle
4) Performed an imperfect but not egregious bleed job.

If that's possibly the cause for totally losing your brakes flying down a mountain, I'll stick to my Shimano brakes. I like my resin pads, and if my LBS leaves a few bubbles in my lines I don't want my brakes to go out the before I even wear off the pad material.

I am too in the process of thinking about buying one, but one part of me think I should wait for Hambini/Tracevelo quality check (they have not announced it, I just reckon they will based on their enthusiasm). But on the other hand, it seems to me that Lightcarbon in general is known for good quality - eg the other Lightcarbon frame that Mondraker bought rights to. So maybe there really is no gamble associated with buying this frame right away.

Why did those of you, who already bought it, choose to not wait for proper reviews?

1) Because I don't trust all (most of) reviews at all ^^
2) When brands send some frames to some youtubers, they always double check the frame but may not do this for casual customers
3) The frame thick a lot of box
4) I am a scientist so I like to take some risk
5) I have a good dentist ;)
6) LC is well known even if they have some troubles with some frames
7) I plan to make a long review of the frame from the unboxing to the ride.

Its very good to hear that they are going into shipping! what color did you have the frame painted?

Haven't officially placed my order yet as I'm still thinking about the paint job. I really love the chronos paint job on the Seka spear and I do see that LC has a pretty similar paint job (more silver forward I guess?). I want to have an outlined "Light Carbon" decal on the down tube but i'm trying to decide between dark grey, gold, or a reflective laser mirror outline.

I think the paint scheme will look better on this frame with the deeper tubes as well.

It seems on the left side (thanks to picture with the fork on the balance. The serial number is in front of the fork). Perfect for left front brake.
That’s what I thought. A pain for right / front users.
Centre routing would have been the most useful solution
