Is that raw carbon finish or is it painted black?

It's the base UD matte finish (no additional cost).

Great ride feel. Very soft feel, especially with those 35C tires. But the frame, maybe the special seat-post takes meaningful amount of road vibration and bumps. On the other hand, it feels also stiff when putting in a little power.
Even though I reused my 105 DI2 it has the New Bike Feel. Very agile with that short handlebar (80mm). Handlebar is a little to narrow in the end, If I could, I would probably go wider (38cm -> 40cm), as my previous HB had all flare, but this has none. Anyways, that's more Aero, right?!  8)

For building up, my key learnings:

  • Make sure that you have the right BB and the right tool for the BB, as I already wrote before I made mistake here. Also there seems to be a couple of different diameters, numbers of notches etc. for T47 BB tools.
  • Fork cutting - I would say this is the most risky situation, as you need to cut with an angle AND - according to the one page manual from LC - "make sure there is a gap of 4-5mm between the top of the stem and the expander plug". Even the usual tools on Alix are only useful for cutting 90º - I build a contraption with miter box + angle to get it into the right direction but used a jigsay in the end anyways. The cut is not particular bad, but not beautiful either - If more experienced builders can share their process here, that will probably be helpful You probably have to cut 90º - I didn't read the "manual" very carefully. Check next post.
  • Besides cabling the nasty brake hoses through handlebar + frame there were no other major obstacles.
  • No sounds from the frame, even putting in 1kW, no squeaks etc. - BUT only the rattling of the rear brake hose in the frame when moving vertically with the bike - As some of you mentioned: having a liner may help here. I tried tape, but ofc the hose will move inside the frame when you turn the handlebar and the tape will cut loose

Re: Lightcarbon: LCR018-D (endurance all-road) Delighted to say my LCR018-D has arrived this morning in N.Ireland.
Delivery was via UPS due to DPD saying they would not deliver to this region (very strange, but no point arguing) - got hit for £40 of import fees which wasn't too bad.

Approx 13 days delivery from when Carol emailed me to say it had been dispatched.
Box looks to be in good condition, a quick peek in and everything has been foam wrapped very well and I cannot wait to get time later to see how the lacquered raw carbon finish looks.

It'll be a couple of weeks before I get the build done at least, but I hope to document everything as I go and will provide updates to anyone who may be interested.
This will be a pure road build with Ultegra 8170 and 45mm deep wheel set with 30mm GP5000s.

Re: Lightcarbon: LCR018-D (endurance all-road) Couldn't resist ripping it all open to get a quick look - the raw carbon finish has exceeded my expectations, its beautiful!
Hard to photograph the effect, but took a few snaps to try and show it off.
The frame looks to be finished to a very high standard - and I love the little storage door!
One tiny point is the decals are on top of the lacquer, I would have preferred beneath for a lovely smooth finish and no chance of getting them damaged, but its only a small point.
Overall im delifghted and can't wait to get it built up.

NB : I have not ridden it yet. I am looking forward to test it with my lovely Tagoola wheels.

All going well - the rear brake cable was easy to install using a ZTTO internal guide tool, plus the storage opening made things even easier - especially when routing the foam liner down over the cable.
Headset bearings for anyone interested are MH-P16. I might get some black oxide versions from Aire Velo bearings next time around.
First disc build for me so interesting to see the little spacer that sits on top of the top headset bearing - very neat and allows easy routing of cables through.

Rubber di2 battery holder is a lovely addition - shaped perfectly for the seatpost and gives a very neat finish.

Next up is to plonk the bars on and try and figure out a stack height so I can cut the steerer and get the bars on there.

Some photos attached for reference including a clearer view of the storage area which caused a bit of concern in my last photo due to an optical illusion from the raw carbon finish - needless to say, all is perfect.

Long review next week if I can ride it.

Re: Lightcarbon: LCR018-D (endurance all-road) Finally an update, painting is finished and ready for shipment.
I had to change from the 400/100mm handlebar to 380/90mm, due to the ordered one is out of stock and would take another 2 weeks to make.

Also added the 15mm SB seat post for 50USD to my order, just to be a bit more flexible with the position and adjustment.

Re: Lightcarbon: LCR018-D (endurance all-road)  I've been working with Chloe at LC since last August and she's been delightful.  She's professional, responsible, timely, & knowledgeable - a real gem.

Today she showed me pictures of my frame so I could approve the paint (see below).  I didn't ask her for the actual ship date, in part because I was too excited to think abut that, but also because we're ahead of schedule.  Originally the build was scheduled for end of September, but with the crush of orders this got changed to end of October.  Plus two to four weeks for paint.  So here we are at the end of October and paint is done (although I don't know if it's yet fully cured). :)

I chose a conservative scheme (inspired by a LCR017 on youTube) because I think it will better hold up to the inevitable battle scars in its future.
