Custom 32er steel frame build while not a Chinese company, Marino bikes out of Peru are in a similar vein and I think they should be highlighted here. 

I recently ordered a custom 32er hard tail frame from them and I am super happy so far with the build process.  I was able to send them a design and they whipped up a cad and sent it back with some clarification questions.  everything from chain stay length to bottle mount placement was an option to change.  once I ordered, it took about a week to be built and is not on its way to me.  The price was amazing at just over $700 for a Reynolds 725 frame with sliding drop-outs and a bunch of bottle mounts.  cant wait for the frame to arrive.  Side note, they are in the same time zones as the US so emailing back and forth is super fast since I don't have to wait for the next day to get a response. 

I will be adding more to this as I receive the frame and build it up.

Hi.

When I bought my frame+fork, almost 1 month ago, I was told it would ship in the beginning of this month, mainly because of the fork, that was due to be produced only by the end of April. Late last week, as I had no update on AliExpress, I inquired the seller about a shipping estimation and I was told that "your frame will be ready in short days" (exact quote). So, I'm kind of expecting it will ship until the end of this week, but in reality, nobody told me that was a certainty...

Regarding the tires, I already have a set of Maxxis Aspen 32x2.4 at home over a month ago. That was my main concern, to get the tires, as they were out of stock everywhere in Europe when I decided to start this 32er project. Only after I had them at home that I went ahead and bought the wheelset and frameset!

Looking at your rear dropout...it looks like there might be well more than the usual 15 mm of adjustment there?
That would actually be quite a selling point to me. Is it that way on both sides, might you know how much adjustment you can actually achieve with it?

Those others who want to go custom, I offer free 32" frame sketches in BikeCAD Pro. To hone my skills and to help riders and help builders spend more time with their families.

I am traveling now but I will measure it when I get home and report back. I feel like they said it was 20mm.

In my case, this 32er project is more a thing out of curiosity for the wheel size novelty, so my planned used for this bike is only gravel roads and light trails, at easy going pace (like recovery and family rides), the main reason being it will be a "full-hard" MTB. The cost of the only available 32er fork, the Intend, by itself is above the total cost of this project for me, ready to ride! Even if other fork brands come up with their 32er forks, it will be a long time before product lines trickle down and prices reach "normal" levels for those new options. So for me, this 32er will keep its "full-hard" condition for the foreseeable future!

But 120mm fork needed.
Other Trifox non Boost frames are limited to 412mm reach.

I had an almost identical frame like the FM-M009 but from SP-cycle 10 years ago. The frame served as its 3rd build: first as a hardtail, then as a rigid mountain bike, now as a dropbar gravel.  totaling about 2500 miles without any issues.   Only complaint is that the top top is too wide and my leg rub against it sometimes.

I will look into the headsets.  I was looking at the Scott Spark (some good clearance prices right now) that have adjustable HS angles.   But I rode one and didn't like it.   I think I just want something with more direct power delivery - cause i don't make much anymore and need all the help I can get.

In other news, my 32er wheelset arrived last friday. The wheels look very well built and the seller at AliExpress was very supportive and helpful to build the wheelset following my exact specification, so I can recommend his service.

The wheelset weight is 1800g (front 830, rear 970) with tubeless valves, ready to use straight out of the box, as I chose sealed rims (without internal spoke holes) and they don't require tubeless tape. These were custom built by the seller for this frameset (with SuperBoost rear hub).


Now on to install the Maxxis Aspen 32x2.4 tires, 180mm rotors and cassette. To test them, I'll need to get the frame and fork, that's been delayed...


P.S.: I forgot to mention that I chose the "Seller's Shipping Method" for DPD duty free delivery in Europe and it took exacty 3 weeks to arrive!
