i am literraly the opposite of you ! a real monkey... 179cm with 192cm span and short leg 83cm inseam. I need a M with extra long stem xD

Part of what makes it difficult may just be that both sizes are equally suited for you. Which, at the end of the day, is perhaps a good problem to have.

Leg length for size L should be fine if I am doing my adding and subtracting correctly:
1. 782mm saddle height - 520mm seat tube length = 262mm
2. If we assume you get a 350mm seat post that has a 100mm minimum insertion length and your saddle stack is 30mm, you still have room for adjustment if needed (350mm - 100mm + 30mm = 280mm, so 18mm more than the required 262mm)

And I don't think your arms would be too short because both the L and XL frames have shorter reach compared to the Stevens.

Saddle-to-handlebar drop may require some pondering. The L frame would see you 39.6mm lower against the Stevens (see Size L diagram), for a total drop of 70mm. You can raise the handlebar, I don't know how much room there is for adjustment, however. A reasonably quick test would be to (temporarily) remove all the spacers from your Stevens and see how you get on with that position. If you are comfortable, size L is a good option.

Hi Spongel, verty nice build!
Go 2x and you'll have no gearing issues IMHO. Plus better chain line, less cross shifting.

I'll put my FM336 on a Balkan bikepacking tour starting end of next week. Will report back.

I don't have it yet.
But so far, Jack has been very reliable when it comes to things like sending the new fork crown.

When the time comes, I'll be able to directly compare whether a new layup has actually improved the frame's stiffness.
