I wrote a while back about having some issues with my frame, a crack on the top tube (likely from shipping) that I unfortunately only noticed during my first ride after finishing the build.

I'm happy to give a quick update: I contacted Light Carbon, and on June 11th, they confirmed they will provide a free replacement frame (excluding handlebar, fork, and seat post), complete with the custom paint job. They are also covering all shipping costs. Massive props to their customer service for handling it so well.

A bit off topic, but while waiting for the new frame to arrive, I’m looking for a new wheelset to pair with it. I want to keep the build looking clean, so I'll be opting for a matte UD finish with no decals.

I’ve been eyeing a 45mm front / 60mm rear staggered setup from Serenade: serenadebikes.net/23mm-internal-high-performance-aero-bike-wheels-build-with-carbon-fiber-spokes-p6704522.html.
To give you some context on how I will use them, I will mostly be running 30mm road tires for summer, but the wheels should also allow for 35-38mm gravel tires. I am looking for a setup that is reasonably light and snappy without sacrificing flat-road aero, especially since I mostly ride flat roads and only ride hills on vacations.

Do you think this configuration makes sense for an aero frame, or should I consider other alternatives in the sub 700€ price bracket? What wheels are you guys running on your builds, and are you happy with them?
Serenade seems to have a good price performance ratio, but I am open to other suggestions.

Rim slightly wider is best, same same is fine, wider tyre is crap.

Your weight and roughness of roads when you ride should dictate what tyres you want to run, then choose a rim to suit.

Most people just choose cheap wheels and sling on some tyres.

they should have catched the alignment issue before tightening to torque tbh.. it's so crooked on yours you'd see it when putting on the tool.

Chris said he is waiting for input from ingeneers.

Going to check with other bike shop this weekend/next week to see for myself (don’t have tool at home).

Microck Aethos clone quick review Last month on a whim I picked up a Microck Aethos clone on AliExpress:

It was a Choice item and shipping was free. Stacked with coupons it actually came out around the $400 usd range with tax. I talked to the seller and they were easy to communicate with supplying me with a 0° offset seat post, 36cm integrated drop bar and a spare rear derailleur hanger. The only downside to this frameset is that it's semi-internal and the standard model (not the lightweight version). They did offer me a full internal, lightweight model for an increased price, but I didn't feel like spending extra.

Anyways, my plan was building it out with spare bin parts I had laying around. It took about a month to ship and delivered via FedEx. When I received the frame, it weighed about 815g in size 52cm. I put the frame together with an old ER9 electronic groupset. Total weight once everything installed is 6.9kg. The hardest part of the frame was getting the rear hydraulic brake hose installed since the holes are ridiculously small. I had to spend time using a round straight file to widen them up. Other than that it was pretty easy to assemble. The BB is T47 and the threads were smooth.

I've taken the bike on a few rides and everything runs solid. The fit is actually quite aggressive and I tend to corner better with upward seat stays. I'm still dialing in my climbing with this bike, but it's not much different from my SPCycle R088. I actually don't mind the semi-internal cabling, I might take this bike for traveling just for easy disassembly. I also have another crankset on order. My older Magene power meter doesn't fit T47 BBs since it's too tight.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied with this frame. It's not the most fanciest, but it's fairly modern, easy to assemble and for the price it's a solid deal. Also I'm quite sure it's the same frame as the BigRock Sothea. Microck claims to be the OEM manufactureer and the specs seem to match up. I'm just glad mine didn't come with a big logo on the down tube!  :)

I don't have it yet.
But so far, Jack has been very reliable when it comes to things like sending the new fork crown.

When the time comes, I'll be able to directly compare whether a new layup has actually improved the frame's stiffness.

Why would anyone do that ? I'm not teasing other for having canyon or trek, which are crappy made, having issues with BB, with painting, cracking, breaking etc.

I have just got it! On live it looks.....stunning! Quick weighting, I will upload some unboxing. Frame 1158 g, fork 453 g, seatpost all 181 g, handlebar 405 g. I quickly calculated the same elements for Shuttle SL and the difference is 583 g. All for size 58. The idea is to have it around 7.2 kg.
