Component Deals & Selection / Re: chinese carbon saddles

Here is the saddle I have now on all my bikes.
US $27.60  54% Off | 2019 New Full Carbon Mountain Bicycle Saddle Road Bike saddle Carbon MTB Saddles Seat Super-light cushion UD Matt 83g+/-3G

Why not carbon rails?
I broke a Gub once, and I'm happy the rails took most of the shock, not me.
I tried this one and it was painful. I guess not a good match for my butt.

I looked at the 27.5 and they all had 457 mm stays like the 29. Did you try to fit 29" wheels?

Looks like a fast fun ride.

Got mine built. Came in about 25.5 lbs, 11.6 kg.

Build basics- large SL frame, Fox Float DPS, 120 Sid Ultimate, BTLOS 27 w/ 240 EXP, Giant carbon bars, Uno stem, Race Face Turbine Dropper,  XTR shifter, derailer and cassette,  MT900 cranks, Chiner seat and pedals, Maxxis Ardent.

Initial Impressions
HTA measures about 66.5 degrees, about 75 for the STA
Bottom bracket is low, about 3/4" lower than my Evil Following MB, not hitting my pedals much, but definitely aware
Rides great, climbs like a mountain goat and feels about the same as the Following going down
Very flickable and playful
Really fun ride
Realized I was off on my weight. It's about 24.6 lbs, 11.2 kg. Also, got a few PMs about the cranks.  They are the "non-group XTR cranks" that Shimano was selling back in 2019 when they were having trouble making the new XTR cranks. They are basically XT cranks with different paint and an XTR chain ring.

Aliexpress.com usually has groupsets available. Usually a good deal but without packaging/ boxes.

Where did you all buy yours? Any affordable (<50 EUR) alternatives to recommend?
You can usually find Shimano XT BBs for $30. I bought an XTR lon Ali late last year for $25 shipped.

29er / Re: FM1001 / FM1156 - 135mm frame

This is because of the steep STA. If you sit on the Bike the Bike feels very compact, but in the downhill position you have enough space/distance...

Look at this very aggressive Privateer 161 with 80° STA. The Bike is a massive bike but has a short TT because of the step STA.
No, that's not right. A steep effective seat tube angle does not necessitate a shorter effective top tube. The gold standard trail bike is the Ibis Ripmo, eSTA 77 degrees,  eTT 632mm for a large. It's literally the most awarded trail bike out currently.

A shorter eTT is a design choice and there's nothing wrong with that.

Looking at the effective top tube length (O on the geo on the first page), this frame seems to run a full size smaller.  XL measures 627mm which is more typical of a large. I like this measure because it shows the distance from the seat post to the center of the head tube, basically center of your seat to your stem. You can adjust fit with stem length or moving your seat, but this gives you a good starting point.

I think it's just a DH bike...

Maybe so. Didn't see it specified either way.

What do you think about this design for my Fm1156?

The Shock Link will be black not white...
I like it. Looks good in all white too.
