do weknow the "inspiration" for this frame design?

Yes, from the looks of it, they are using 2019 Specialized Epic HT geometry: https://geometrygeeks.bike/bike/specialized-epic-ht-2019/

I personally love that geometry which reinforces my interest in this bad boy

I had an airwolf frame in large. I'd need to check the number but that was 786g new. Mine cracked relatively quickly but it was a lively bike to ride. In the end my build was 7.6kg rigid. Lots of others had good experiences with that frame but I never have good luck. Any carbon frame and Ti frame i've owned has cracked somewhere and none of which were chiner (except the airwolf).

I don't come on here often but I think i'll give that SPCYCLE frame a go. I have lots of parts on my cannondale flash which could go over to that frame and i plan to build some 1kg wheels with those carbon/ti spokes to see if they're any good.

I've not been on here a while but my long term steed is a Cannondale Flash from 2010 with a lefty fork. I am in need for some new wheels. I was going to build myself but I thought I'd also check out if there were any premade options. Ideally I want something light (1300g tops), 650b and not too pricey. But unless I am missing something, options are very limited and a custom build would be best.

If anyone has built up a lefty wheelset, i like shiny things so please send pictures. The last lefty wheelset I built were on my Cannondale slate with Nextie rims and they came out great.

Thanks
Jake

Metal Frames / Re: Chinese Titanium Frames...

You could consider Tito or Titan still. Both are not badly priced and I have found both customer service responses to be prompt. Titan is about £950-1000 for a custom Ti frame. I am going to go down that route soon.

:o a crack at the top / seat tube junction and now a snapped chainstay! I really hope your issues are an anomaly and are addressed quickly. I washed and checked mine over the weekend and so far its fine, but interested to hear how your chainstay snapped and how your warranty claim goes with Airwolf.

Took a long while to hear back to be honest and i gave up. I emailed the seller on Aliexpress who are Airwofl directly. Then i had to email someone from Yaoflying. I didn't hear back for 5 weeks and kept messaging the seller intermittently to let them know I hadn't heard back. I did eventually get a reply from Beatrice at Yaoflying which was on the 20th December (so about 2.5 months later-ish).

They asked I send the frame back for inpection. As often with these items, the return shipping, and namely hassle, outweighs the warranty benefit. So i just scrapped the frame.

I am waiting for my Koga World-traveller to finish being built and this was a project to have fun with in the meantime for a few months. I'll probably move the components over another time with an ICAN frame or similar.

Unfortunately, i am still waiting to hear back from Airwolf. They have been fairly responsive on Aliexpress and they basically asked me to send my email to another addressee. But i have note heard back from them yet.

I have taken the bike apart since the RHS chainstay snapped randomly right where the internal cable guide for the reach mech cable runs.
No my wheels have been damaged and probably the derailleur. Haven't bothered inspecting stuff yet!

I haven't seen any carbon ones, but TIRIS offers a somewhat similar titanium bar with a claimed weight of 320 to 370 g. It's on their eBay store for $140 to $150 (depending on size) and $10 shipping (to the US). I don't have any experience with TIRIS, so I can't vouch for service or quality.

Thanks. They do look like an option. I will check them out and seem to fit the bill on a nice bit of weight reduction, too!

@nicklej Your pic sent me running into the basement to look for frame cracks after recently abusing the Airwolf. Thankfully no issues here. Fingers crossed for you. My aftersales experience has been good (although only for broken cable port covers).

I'm now 2 months in and my only real issue has been with the Magura Brakes. They have been a pig to get right BUT now I have bled them really well, worked with tight clearance around rotor and got some high quality (KoolStop) pads on they are incredibly good.

Haha glad yours is okay. I only noticed the crack initially because i thought it was weird that this line kept appearing after i wiped it down. I thought maybe my nuts were sweating down onto that sectiona nd then i had a reality check that my nuts don't sweat that much!!  ;D

What issue did you have with your brakes? I am running MT8s on my bike and they're great - I have SwissStop pads and will get some more soon. I just had issues with the fork (not from Airwolf) which is that i get a lot of resonance through the fork so may have to add a small lead weight to change the resonance
frequency. Overall, i am loving the bike. I will keep riding it as it is and monitor it. I ride every day for 40 miles minimum so easy to "feel" when something isn't right!

That's not a good look....

How much seatpost did you have in the frame? Was it below this join?

Any seatpost shims?

Let is know what they say. You should also be protected by credit card.

I am running a 400mm post with 180mm in the frame. Can trim this down but haven't bothered yet. So plenty in there.
The frame is not unsafe to ride in my opinion and I am still riding it now. The crack is getting fractionally worse over time but I have not heard back from them yet.

I my picture and video was not clear enough so they asked for more photos. Can't really who anything else lol. I'm loving the bike though. I have sent pics over so hoping for a reply within a week about what my options are/ what they can sort for me.

I may have a little scout at other frames tomorrow and see what options i have so that i can use my cranks and seatpost.

So I am 3 weeks into riding this frame and have done just over 1000 miles all told. The most “extreme” riding I’ve done is in the New Forest UK, not very extreme…!

Anyhow, have developed a hairline crack between the upper exposed seat tube section where it curves onto the downtube. My seatpost has plenty of length in the frame so I’m disappointed in this frame right now. It’s a shame because it looks lovely and rides great too.

Have contacted Airwolf this evening so will see what there customer service is like

Anyone know of any carbon Jones H-Bar knockoffs?

I know there are many alloy alternatives (even not Chinese) but struggling to find something more affordable and lighter than the circa 500g standard alloy HBar

Thanks

I am using a Trifox one and have done 1000 miles on it in the last 3 weeks since owning it. It’s good and looks decent too. I did have a problem with the disk brake faces though. They were not parallel with each other and neither were parallel to the rotor so took a while to sort out.

Airwolf frame with a host of nice parts. Really enjoyed this build and have a few more parts to arrive from Tune before the build is “complete”. Bike currently at 7.63kg.

I also have this frame and first impressions are good. Just finished it last night but still waiting on some final bits before the bike is “complete” (saddle, pedals and new seatpost clamp).

I agree about the imperfections in the frame. The upper and lower bearing areas on the head tube looked a little more ropey than expected. However, fitting their own bearings and setting the preload, it all worked without a hitch or any notchiness. The frame was wrapped so well and arrived in 6 days to the UK but I just went for the black option with the intention of perhaps painting it in the future.

I am British and ride the South Downs way often as I live near the start in Winchester. This rig is designed to be a very light hardtail. I use the bike to commute hence the G-Ones and rigid fork but will Chuck on a RockShox Sid when I’m on the downs and some Mezcals. For my typical rides around the new forest too, this current setup works great where the terrain isn’t demanding.

Bike as it stands is 7.63kg and was a blast to ride home last night! My only mistake was that the E13 XCX cranks use a larger offset on the chainring whereas I have a standard 3mm offset boost chainring. I didn’t check that in advance.  This means the chain line isn’t quite right so there is a bit of noise to the drive train however, it is still rideable and shifts well but I will sort that out to prevent chain from wearing too much. I am using a rigid fork from trifox. It looks lovely and is very stiff. If anyone else out there goes for it, keep in mind the post mounts will need facing as my calliper was not parallel to the rotor so took a little longer to sort out.

All in all, I am very happy with this bike. I’m am 180cm tall and the large frame is just a smidge too big for me personally. I can make it fit but I have always found myself on the cusp of medium and large frames. I’ll ride with this for some time but may eventually swap components onto their medium frame instead.

Picture won’t upload for some reason

Fingers crossed yours shows up soon!

I've been fiddling while I wait for wrap to arrive. Frame is 1150g with thru axle and clamp.

I test fitted a 2.6 Rekon on the back and it fits with more space than there was on the Scott the tire came on! Airwold claim a max of 2.4.

The silver bottle cage bolts looked a bit cheap so I've sprayed them matte black.

Very happy with my custom stickers!

The headset fits with no issues at all.

Thanks for the info. I have ordered all my parts this week and have a spreadsheet of expected weight. I’ll actually weigh the parts when I get them though.

Build will be about 7.8kg with rigid fork and just under 8.8kg with a 100mm fork.

Can you tell me what headset you went with please?
