If you want in on the GB, email Eddy directly and mention the group buy on Chinertown. There are color options in the first post of the other 831 group buy thread.

Do administrators have access to email addresses for members who were in the original group buy thread? A generic email letting them know the d al is a go now and place your orders if you want in could really drum up some numbers.
I got a PM from Eddy with the same thing he posted in the GB thread. Not sure if he PMed everyone from that thread.

What about Mumblejack's question? How are we deciding what the frame price is now?
I asked Eddy. He is giving us the 30 frame rate, $540. We're not close to that, so doubt we'll get to 50 and $499.

what color is the chameleon green robert? what number on their color chart?
I don't think it's one of the colors on the chart. I have no idea what it's going to look like, but for $20, I'll give it a go. I'm hoping it's a dark or medium green with color shifting. Maybe it's green and purple but Eddy's email reply to me made it seem like it was either green or purple, so not sure what to expect. I can rattle can it if I don't like it, but a seriously doubt that will be the case. I'm not real picky.

Besides the good old fashion old tube, what is everyone using for chainstay and downtime/bb protection?
I put the VHS Huck Norris on my chain stay,  https://vhsmtb.com/products/vhs-2-0-slapper-tape . Looks like they don't call it Huck Norris  anymore, but it's the same and works great.

On my downtubes, I've always used "keel guard". I use it on the bottom of my kayaks, so always have some around. I order mine from Amazon. It's sticks well and is very durable.

So we just place orders with Eddie and tell him it's part of the group buy?

To paint or not to paint? That is the question.
Yes and yes. Seriously, I'm team no paint but for $20 for "chameleon" paint, I couldn't resist.

Okay i have decided to put in an order........ Now what? Can someone please walk me through how i go about send money and the shipping and all that jazz.
Thanks in advance. ;D
Post in the stickied "831 Group Buy" thread at the top of the 29er section. Eventually you'll get an email from the vendor about options and then a PayPal invoice. About 2 months or so later, you'll get a frame.

Has Top Fire explained what is different with their frame? Or just that it's *different*?

Anyone have experience with both companies? Or even experience with one or the other and thoughts?

I'm in once I read thru everything again...
They didn't, but based on the way they responded to some of my questions, I doubt the frames are different.

Not to bring up a sore subject, but was a BSA BB an option? Would others prefer it? I haven't gone and found it but I'm pretty sure it was discussed at one point and one supplier was offering it as an option but don't remember which one?

I'll be in for one or 2. Does anyone know if matte or glossy is determined by clear coat? Would clear coat be considered paint? Is it needed or is the base option ok?

Also, was there a link to accessories? Its not showing up currently... If I'm paying shipping I want to see what other goodies can be crammed in!
I'd much rather have BSA, but was told be every vendor it's not an option. It would require a mold change. Not sure on the matte/ clear question. When you place your order, you can ask about any accessories you want.

Figured I'd add this here in case anyone missed it in the other threads.

Just a quick note about sizing.  The AM831 runs a size larger than the SC. A medium 831 is the same size as a large SC. Below are the numbers for both frames.

If you're unsure about sizing,  here's the link to the SC page. https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-US/bikes/hightower

I see Eddie from Haideli is back and commenting in the other threads. Are we now going with someone else? Awkward.
I don't think we're committed to anyone yet. I think we go with whoever offers the best value. I believe that is probably Eddy/ Haideli. Price for the frame is the same, but Haideli include headset, bb, axle and seat post clamp. Painting is also much cheaper, $20 vs $70.
