When I said 24mm shims I was talking about the .1mm shims, I've bought some from aliexpress. You would need somewhere between 0 to .5mm of shims to prevent rub on the driveside. Id have no concerns about spline engagement at that point. I would use loctite on these cranksets in any case for the preload bolt

Hi, I didn’t some research into my crank and bb purchases. I got verified from velobuild that 86.5 is the outer measure of the threads on the frame.

The BB I bought was Senicx T47-85.5-24R-Ceramic Bearing,  that I measured to 85.5 maximum compressed. The middle "pipe" on the BB is there to keep dirt away from the bearings and avoid that the crank rubs against the inner cables, and I’m fairly sure it will keep tight.  It would be better with a wider BB.

The crank I bought was SENICX PR3 Gravel Bike Crankset 40T chainring 175mm Crank 10/11S Speed 24MM and this seems to be my main issue. It has an optimal inner distance of 89mm without spacers, so I will have about around 3mm of the splines not connected to the crank arm. The total length of the splines is 20mm. If need for spacers I think i will have a big problem.

i will hopefully receiver the parts i have ordered in a couple days, will have a look and se if a 1 spacer is worth using. This 86.5

I was confused by the "weird" 86.5mm size, so I thought it would be better to ask before ordering anything.
I have already found a Kactus BB T47-DUB (86.5mm).

If I decide to go for Wheeltop GeX, does it matter if I order a Shimano or XDR wheelset?

I will recive the 85.5 BB and crank in a few days and will try to figure out if a 1mm spacer may do the trick for the scenicx BB. The Kactus seems like a better option though.

I use both shimano and sram wheels on my MTB using the Wheeltop OX 2.0 and it works fine. I checked with wheeltop regarding the rotor size compability of the break calipers and they said that they only support 140/160mm rotors (even though some sources claimed that 180 is good). I changed my setup to 160 front and rear.

Hey Anders, could you let me know which components you ended up switching to?
I’m curious what crankset and bottom-bracket solution you chose in the end :)

I will for sure do more research this time, i se that i might have to my box of shame as well... I will let you know what i end up with, hopefully there is someone more skilled than me that can help us out :)

Hi everyone, I’m new here.
I ordered my XS frame three weeks ago and am now gathering parts for my build.
I’m considering using the WheelTop EDS GeX 1×12 drivetrain, but have a significant question about the crankset.

Anders posted this setup:

Frame’s T47 bottom-bracket shell measures 46 × 86.5 mm. Will this exact setup (85.5) be compatible with it?

Thanks for the heads up on this! I will look for another and have a spare 85.5 as a reminder to do my due diligence before ordering.  ;D

I would definitely get an additional 0mm offset seatpost if I were you, it's only 35$. Even with separate bar and stem you still route the brake hoses through the stem internally so swapping up the stem is a pain in the butt. You will have to detach the brakes, remove handlebar tape, then reconnect everything and hope you don't have to bleed the system again. Also those spacers might not work with a regular aftermarket stem so you might have to source another stem from VB if necessary. Swapping the seatpost on the other hand takes 5 minutes if you need to shorten your position

Ah, I wasnt aware that you route trough he stem on these bikes. Sent them a mail and asked for the adjustments :)

I'm same height as you are and I've recently ordered an XL as well. It looks like you are going to end up with a pretty long position. For a reference, I'm currently riding a lightcarbon gravel frame that is 2cm shorter than this one and I'm running 110mm cockpit and 15mm offset seatpost. For this build i've opted for a 100x420 cockpit and i've ordered both 0 and a 20mm offset seatposts just in case.

I'm not giving you a fit advice of course, just be sure to double check the geo since the frame is really long.

Thanks, this is good input! Im totally clueless when it come to road/gravle bikes, so I maximized size thinking i could always replace the stem etc later on. Since I have to learn this new type of bike i guess that making too eratic changes in start wont make huge impact (except avoiding soar hands and back for too long reach). I will follow your example here :)

Hi, first time poster on the forum here. I have been reading here for a while and got tempted to make a gravel bike. Parts and frame are ordered, so a good day to sign up here and get involved. I’m a 193cm tall and around 100 kilo, I have been riding mountain bikes for a few years but need something a bit more speedy. This build will be used for commutes on tarmac and gravel.
