Is there much advantage to using the direct mount mech hanger over the provided 1? I'll be using same mech and haven't changed. I checked the alignment this morning and it was spot on.  Bars are out for delivery:)

Made some progress with the build, handlebars came today and udh to direct mount hanger. I’ve test fitted the bars ready for a fit on the trainer tomorrow, then once I’m happy will chop the steerer and trim hoses. Does preload hold the spacers in place?

Got a slightly lighter sworks seatpost on the way too. Currently weighs 7kg without tape, cages or expander, which is 1.6kg less than my steel bike. Crazy how thin it is in comparison.

Any recommendations for a computer mount?

Also finally finished the build for my girlfriend’s sister (Size 52cm for 173cm height, 81.5 cm inseam). She’s super happy, the bike feels responsive and the build up was almost hassle free (except for getting the headset play right).

Stem: Deda Superbox 90mm
Handlebars: Deda Zero2 400mm
Wheels: XM Carbon Speed D50CU 28-21 with GP5000
Shimano 105 Di2 Groupset

Everything together roughly under 7.6kg.

How did you solve headset play?

I'm almost certain in my case that the bottom bearing sat against the top of the fork. Everything looked flush even without preload, prior to cutting the steerer tube.

I contacted sp and they said that's how it should be and the play will be eliminated when preload added.

Secondly.....the bottom bearing, when installing on fork, is far from touching. This means as you preload...you are just putting pressure on this bearing. See pic.

My frame also turned up yesterday to UK (also 58).  Seems ok but my concern is when installing headset (I ignored the crown race, so from bottom to top, went bearing, bearing, c clip, top cap) there is play. I haven't cut fork so can only add a stem and push down firmly.  Even so, when done, there's play in top bearing set up.

Any ideas, before I contact SP?

Ah ok this will be for ultegra di2

So will I also need an rd adapter? I'll be installing ult di2.

Thx

I have the lexon in my cart as an option.

What do you mean by split ring?

Thanks

I'm interested to hear what alternative one piece bars folks are using on their builds. I'll be looking for 120 to 130mm options, currently favouring the bigrock skyline.

I'd like to spend less but don't want to live in fear of cheapest ones breaking (around 82kg, 193cm).

Following this thread for a while now and have pulled the trigger on a size 58.  I'm 6'3" have gone frame only (no bars). Looking forward to building it up.  2 to 3 weeks delivery to UK. Got it using latest AliExpress offer (circa 420 using 'seller preferred ' shopping.
...now to start getting everything ready for the buid. 👍
