Did anybody try Wheeltop GeX with 9-51t (or 9-50t) cassette? I saw somebody reporting no issues with 9-46t, but I'm wondering if there is enough capacity for 9-51t.

Here's mine with Eagle 10/50 dinner plate. No issues so far. The initial cog by cog setup too a bit of time. The shifting under load is pretty good, on par with the AXS eagle RD(non T type) on my mtb. The Gex is rated for 52T according to WT.

One of the things I like and also dislike about the GeX levers is it allows me to wrap all 4 fingers under the hood for a very firm grip when I pedal out of the saddle on a steep and rough climb. I have small hands with short fingers and small knuckles. A four finger grip makes me feel confident. If you have big hands with chunky fingers and knuckles. The lever/bar space below the hood might not be enough to get all 4 fingers under.

All of the previous generation Shimano, SRAM levers could only accommodate for 3 finger wrap, not enough room between the levers and the bar. I loved the latest 13spd SRAM levers when I tried at a LBS. It's a comfortable full 4 finger wrap. The entire hood sticks out a lot more to create additional space.

The dislike. This is the Industrial Design/Mechanical Design problem(pink line on my photo). There's not reason why the inner lever pivot bolt needs to stick out so much. SH and SR inner levers hide behind the outer lever perfectly. This is both ergonomically and visually pleasing. This GeX "protruding" inner lever pivot bolt rubs my index finger. The good part is that the GeX lever has about 5mm~10mm outward play(pivot away from handle bar). The spring tension is very light. So this bolt isn't pressing against my index finger. Still a minor annoyance because of the not so refined Industrial Design.

I have to  be honest with this GeX.

Been havin a chat with my mechanic that is dealing with some groupsets from this. For 800€ one can get a groupset (levers, brake calipers, rear derraileur, cassette , bettery, charger and chain) from SRAM Eagle GX with Apex or with some work Rival.

The current pricing on GeX (minus de cassette and the chain) is 600€.

The build quality on both are not comparable.

I just got back from China on a business trip. I got my GeX 93mm cage carbon levers with those light blue colored brake calipers and hoses for roughly $350 on Taobao(Aliexpress in China mainland). I consider this a great value. The Wheeltop US website sells for $550~600.

Here's the thing if you can find a friend who travels to China, you know what to do.

BTW, the flagship Wheeltop store on Taobao threw in an extra set of V2 softer rubber hoods for free. My version already came with the V2 softer rubber hoods which fit better without that ugly "step" transition from the top of the hood to the hard polymer frame which is very noticeable on those early Youtube GeX reviews. The V2 softer rubber hoods also has a grippier texture and much easier to work with.

I tried Device Adjustment after the Wheeltop APP has already discovered my GEX system, but it asks "Please connect the device first". I think it's already connected. What's wrong here?

Great build. Question. Do levers rattle when the riding surface gets rough?

Has anyone actually paired L-Twoo eGR with Wheeltop GEX RD? L-Twoo eGR only goes up to 46T. I want mullet 50/52T in the back. Plus I hate to run the RD wire in the frame. L-Twoo eGR is almost a deal breaker for me up to this point.

Installed my Wheeltop GeX. It was pretty straight forward converting my mechanical GRX RD and hydraulic Ultegra shifters. I still need to test out the bike, but so far shifting seems precise and it looks very streamlined!

I think you're describing nearly the perfect use case.

a) someone who knows how to work on the gear
b) someone who has parts in the bin
c) someone who may very well bounce between different 'speeds' in the lifetime of the product. (Pet peeve of mine is how Shimano and SRAM both demanded latest everything to use electronic when it would be trivial to support at least adjacent setups. Pure planned obsolescence not technical)

And yes, the Shimano calipers will work fine. That's what I'm using because I needed (and had) post mount calipers.  Also DOT fluid isn't that big of a deal. A bit of extra care when working with it is all.

Just checked out your Gex build blog. Very informative and helpful. Does Wheeltop US website offer sale discounts like those Chinese carbon frame/wheel websites? I noticed those Chinese carbon frame/wheel website often have sale events.
