I ended up cutting a 2x6cm of FR4 and putting it on the flat part of the seatpost. fixed the slop

I have an frame with a loose seatpost, i.e. there is around 1mm of slop when the clamp is loosened.

If I apply a thin coating of carbon grip and tighten the clamp to 9Nm (as stamped), the seat post still slips when I go over bumps.

Right now I apply a liberal heaping of carbon grip to both the seat post and the seat tube, then I do up the clamp. When I put weight on it I get a bit of squeeze out since there's so much carbon paste. What I do now is that I'll jump the bike to slam my body weight on the saddle and get all the excess to squeeze out, and then re-torque it. Will repeat this 2-3 times until no more squeeze out and it works like a charm.

When I remove the seatpost there is a 1mm thick layer of basically sand with a bit of gel (but it's quite dry, probably since all the "gel" was squeezed out).

Anyone try shimming or something else?

Anyone else have a similar bad experience with the plastic base saddles?

I got a 3D-printed plastic base RYET ultimate with the cromoly rails for my commuter bike. The padding feels decent, probably a bit too soft but that's not really an issue compared to the saddle construction. The base material itself is insanely flexible, as in I can collapse the perineal cutout by just pressing on the sides. Sometimes it pinches my balls in between when I sit on it without bike shorts.

Needless to say I will be returning it.

So regarding the TPU printed covers for the seatpost clamp. I did not understand how hard the TPU would be. It sort of works. The upper profile is about right, but the part needed to try and keep the insert down were too big so I had to cut them to fit and without it, it does curl up per the second photo.

I am trying again, so we can revisit my second try in about 10 days.

Notices a zig zag scratch on my seatpost.

Coin test sounds all the same, I’m wondering if it could just be the pressure from my bike stand clamp cracking the paint when I was working on the bike?

Does this look like a structural issue?

Are garmins region locked? I have the opportunity to buy a garmin 530 or 830 for a lot cheaper than I can get here in Toronto, from China.

If I buy a chinese garmin that has chinese maps, can I just download a Canadian map set for it and change the language to english? Or are they region locked?

Does anyone know any good rim brake pads they've found on Aliexpress? I'd use the search function, but most discussions are of disc brake pads. Curious to hear anyone's experiences on rim brake pads.

ZRace 3-color pads. They're a lot better than the ZTTO black ones.
