I'm under the urge to buy this frame and build it with a suspension fork.
Please discourage me 

I don't think you'll be able too as this frame has a  1 1/2 inch straight steerer tube, most suspension forks are tapered as far as im aware.

I haven't tried any of the bikes, or any bike with "micro" suspension for that matter... BUT looking at geometries of the two bikes, they are a lot different from each other - and i think that should be the main point when choosing between these two..
the LCG087 does have really low headtube angle, which makes the trail really large - thus making it feel more like a MTB when steering. It will be slow, and not very reactive - and that MAY be a good thing, depending on how you like it. Wheelbase is also longer on the LCG087, and stack is a bit higher.
Myself i would not even look at this frame because of the trail - cus i like more reactive steering. Higher trail = more stable when going straight, but slower steering.
So choose LCG087 if you want more MTB-like handling, and LCG074 if you want it more road-like handling.

That's fair I did not consider the geometry. At the moment I'm living in a spot that has fairly rough gravel however will be moving to a place that has more tame gravel so maybe as you say the more conventional bike makes more sense.

I'm wondering if any of you have tested both the LCG074 and the LCG087. I'm thinking of replacing my alloy Giant revolt with one of them. I really like my revolt but wouldn't mind something lighter. I've found myself going graveling in the UK and ending up on the rougher end of gravel where some compliance would be nice.

how much more compliance does the 087 give? Further what's the difference in compliance between a rigid rear triangle and the pivot system the 074 has.

Any thoughts?
