Finally on the road!

After several attempts, I’ve finally managed to take my Mondice gravel bike out for its first ride.

The bike is not completely finished yet, as I’m still waiting for the final wheelset, which will be a set of CSC gravel wheels. The current wheels are a second-hand set originally from a Bianchi, which I’m using temporarily.

I also had a few issues with the Deda Superzero stem, mainly due to incompatibility between the compression ring and the expander. In the end, I solved it by switching to a 70 mm Deda stem. One important thing I discovered: do not use carbon assembly paste with this setup.

So far, I’m very happy with how the bike feels. I’ll post some more pictures and a proper review once I have the final CSC wheels fitted.

Mondice has confirmed that carbon assembly paste should not be used on this part.

Without carbon paste, I can reach the required torque (1.5–2 Nm), but the expander lifts slightly when I tighten the top cap.

I definitely do **not recommend the AliExpress expander**. In my case, it’s completely useless.

The Deda ring compresor part fits perfectly.

Has anyone experienced the fork expander moving upwards when tightening the headset top cap to 1.5 Nm?

I’m waiting for the 50 mm expander to arrive. Has this happened to anyone else?

What's the length of the included seatpost?  And what's the minimum length that must be inside the seat tube?

I'm 194cm, usually 82cm BB to saddle.  It looks like the seat clamp is 2-3cm from the top tube, so the seat tube of the XL is effectively 52cm - leaving 28-30cm exposed (allowing for the saddle).  Does that leave enough in the seat tube?  Or would I be better with something like the GR201 which has a higher seat tube?

Also, has anyone tried putting a rack on it yet?  (Commuter)

I really liked the look of the Deda Superzero but you don't realize the compatibility issue until you get to the final assembly.

I assume you bought the stem that the other member recommended? If I had done the same, I probably wouldn't have run into this problem either.

I was genuinely surprised by how quickly Deda replied to my email.

I had exactly the same problem on my FM336 with a Deda stem, and I'm still trying to solve it.

What brand is your stem?

I've seen online that some people have experienced the same issue with FSA stems (the fully integrated cable-routing models).

At the moment, I'm going to try modifying a Kocevlo compression ring, or otherwise I'll just switch to another stem—the same one that other FM336 owners are using successfully.

My build is finally done. 

Assembly went quite smooth. Brake mounts wasn't finished well and paint on the furry in this place was a bit chipped. I gave up with XG4 calipers as they barely worked on the front and didn't work at all in the rear no matter how long I bled them.

Only issue I have now that the storage cover fel off two times during a ride with a bottle and chipped the paint 🫤. I don't know what going on with it. I taped it for a now. Does anybody have same issue?
