Just for reference, they cost me £45 total for 2x H496 Merlin 30c tyres from Aliexpress (im based in the UK).

There were a few good offers on some tyres from UK sites, but all 28s. Once you clicked 30 or 32 the price shot up to a crazy level altogether (as if they're not bad enough already!).

The local price of the tyres in China is kind if irrelevant I guess as theres no chance of them ever being this cheap when buying from abroad - if they are available from a source other than Aliexpress at a cheaper price I would certainly look into purchasing more (assuming I get on well with the first set).
From performance perspective, I can not say because I have never used Arisum, so can not compare these two. Also I can not find many feedback from Chinese internet of Arisum too, we'd rather use other brands when the price goes higher than the brand value.

I'm glad you were both ok. I never would've thought to have the bike and wheels x-rayed, especially at a pet hospital. How did you talk them into doing that? Did they charge you for it?
Thank you for your caring, yes actually in China there are riders who crash or buy new frame would do that, not too many but yes there are some.
I have asked 3 pet hospitals but they all denied, so I turned to a riders group to ask, they told me this one could do X ray for frames, so I went there paid like 250RMB (35USD)for 5 pictures, the original price is 25USD, but they said frame is too big, needs to take 5 shots. The kid's father paid all the cost to me after, so I dont mind how much they charged me. LOL

This price is crazy for me, the main cost is the shipping cost, if at this price I dont think you need to try H496 tbh

After The Ride / Crashed with a Ebike
« on: August 24, 2026, 02:20:44 AM »
August almost passed, in 5th Aug, I planned to ride a 60km after work, but when I just cycled 3km a wrong direction e bike crashed my bike. Luckily both of us were safe and sound.
So I called traffic police, found that dude was only 6 days to 18 b-day, and its all his responsibility, and we both signed the bill, so later I went to hospital to take CT, and took my bike to a pet hospital for X ray.
And also I sent my bike back to decathlon to check other damage, sent back my wheels to factory to rework.
On 11th August, I have sent the excel and all payments to his father, yes it is his 18 birthday.
20 mins later his father transfered to my account.
2300RMB (340USD total)

Wish all the riders could be home safely.

As you could see my ID here, China Hangzhou

I could help here, I only used H496 from my first road bike, 28C front and back wheels, price is 36USD for a pair, 2 months ago i bought a brand new 496 tyre for 11USD, so when you look at this price, it is very good. Now used them for about 6k+ km, only broke inner tube once. Other than that, really recommend H496, in China we also call it Cobra, dont know why Chaoyang changed the name.

Thanks! I need to find that part from somewhere now. I hope Leese can send one with their carbon cranks I'll order as they are often sold with the PP5. I'm not the original owner so might be tricky to get one from Thinkrider.

Edit. Thinkrider wants 25 euros to send the shim it's a bit too much. I'm wondering will this fit or is the Thinkrider one somehow smaller?

25 euros? Gosh. Thats 25CNY in China, like 3.5USD with free shipping. Now they give this spacer with the powermeter. The reason is some crankarm is lower than the powermeter easton surface. Thats why need this spacer.

I received my PP5 and tried to install it on my road bike to test it. It's not sitting straight on the cranks even though it's not touching the crank arms and it's fully tightened. So it's wobbling a bit side to side.

Can this be because it does't work with these cranks (Elilee X-novanta) or is it just a bent powermeter? Sigeyi sits straight on those cranks.

Google says I might need a shim and the PP5 only works with certain cranks. I was planning to get Leese carbon cranks for it for my commuter bike I hope it sits straight on those. The mounting surface is a bit different on the PP5 vs the Sigeyi. It has a recessed area and the Sigeyi is completely flat.

Only paid about 40€ for it but was hoping to get it to work. By quick test it reads Z2 watts fine.
Anyone had similar trouble with it?

You need this spacer

What's the chainline on the PP5 + thinkrider crankset combo? I'm trying to find out do I need offset 1x chainring for it or a normal one. Some ppl report it's wider than normal? Is it because of the spider or the crank? And how long is the spindle do you use spacers on the bb?

I found it cheap for my commuter bike I don't need that good accuracy on it and it's definitely not for sprinting.
My original crankset is SRAM DUB wide, chainring is APEX XPLR x1 with 6mm offset, I replaced with thinkrider powermeter+crankarm with PQ 0 offset chainring. Portside with 0.5mm spacer and starboard with 1.5mm. When you buy thinkrider powermeter and crankset, they have English manual to calculate the spacers you need.

Kontax is a brand from my city Hangzhou, their local offline shop is just 3km from my office.
I dont have more information, as I know from a local cycling influencer, he said Kontax has been working in carbon fiber industry for many years.
I did some research from the internet, it seems he is not lying. At least Kontax probably will not run away with your deposit.

You could see the licence on Taobao shop is the same one as the 超探新材料 company

Just a quick update, I remembered some friend here said his Spect frames already been shipped? But I just read a post from XHS, the Spect buyers wechat group said the first batch frames delayed again.

Some initial impressions posted in Baidu Tieba:

Lots of pics there too.
Just saw this post yesterday( Monday so I have time to surf), want to try it because the shifter is like E1, with high rotation brake.

Does anybody know if the plastic installation tool is a standard size? It slipped a couple times and the plastic has been deformed. Where can I find a replacement?

Mine is DUB but I saw this problem before, this might be the deviation
