If XMCS doesn't include this, FSA, Deda, Acros, Ritchey, Enve, CK and whoever else all have headset covers in this style for every budget, that'll fit the GRT too.

XMCS needs to stop putting this horizontally cut in half logo on wheels but especially the frames. Not only is it a bad copy of others ideas, but its also really weird looking.
This is working for Zipp and others because everybody recognizes them anyway and its their style. But half of XMCS reads more Like "AIVILS" in a spacy font.

The DT Swiss-style star ratchet system has been around for years, is widely used in various forms across the industry and has proven itself to be reliable. Sometimes there's something to be said for sticking with a tried-and-tested design.

Would I like to try Elite Wheels? Absolutely!

But personally, not at their current prices. There are simply too many other excellent wheelsets available from competing manufacturers at considerably more competitive prices.

I've had four sets of DFS wheels myself, and my experience so far has been positive. That doesn't mean everyone will have the same experience, and I can't personally comment on how DFS would handle a warranty claim because I've never needed to make one.

Maybe I'll give Elite a go in the future. Who knows? 😂

Ultimately, everyone has different priorities. Some people are happy to pay more for an established brand and the reassurance that comes with it. Others, like myself, are more interested in the actual product, its specifications, performance and value for money.

You post a lot about wheels and seem to own many different sets. Do they get any significant mileage before you share those experiences?

I had 3 headset bearings delivered with my frame for whatever reason and the two having the correct chamfer for the lower position, did require the split ring to fit.

On my frame, i had to use the split ring between the frame and lower bearing. Otherwise the bearing sits to deep in the frame and the fork crown rubs the frame.

Just go back a page. I fitted Pirelli XC RH in this frame and they measure over 60mm. Theres plenty of room for really wide tires.

62mm measured fit.

It might work with standard cranks in some configurations, like 40 or 42t chainrings or 3rd party chainrings with zero offset. I tried standard cranks with Sram 46t chainring and it was rubbing the frame.

If you already have a standard crank, give it a try. If you have to buy one, go with the wide version.

Technically the bike requires the wide crank with the longer spindle, but in my bike is a standard road crank i made work by modifying the preload adjuster to allow another spacer on the drive side to move the crank another 2mm outwards.
Wouldn't recommend that though, its a very tight fit.

Its an Acros top cap. Says Merida on it but with a stem installed, its basically invisible. You'll also need their compression plug which is only available as a set with the upper bearing though.

I don't know the spindle length of the magene cranks, but my sram road crank with a 46t chainring on a quarq spider don't fit. The chainring rubs the frame.
