@hazzer19 and others: would you expect spacers also being needed for a 46/30 chainring combo on this frame? Interestingly, velobuild said that this setup would need a longer front derailleur (?)

Yes, with 46/30 you'll need a longer front derallieur hanger otherwise you'll not be able to set the derallieur correctly. I just realized this 2 days ago when I placed my 46/30 cranckset....Chris is sending me the longer derallieur hanger, waiting for it.

Hey Everyone,

I'm new to this forum, currently working on a built of the Velobuild GF-002.

I'm having extrem issues routing the Di2 cable (EW-SD50) through the right chainstay. The plug off the cable just doesn't fit through the narrowest part. A shifting housing can be pushed through with force. I've tried all the special tools for routing, but the plug just won't fit.

Anybody has experienced similar issues with the GF-002?

Additionally, my frame came without the two "doors" in the down tube. Under the bottom bracket and next to head tube. Chris said they have been doing this since two years, but all the pictures I see of Gf-002 builts have those.

Anybody also received a frame without the doors? I'm wondering if this particular frame I received is just a lemon.

Thanks, appreciate any help.

me too, no doors, I was informed by Chris after placing the order.......I wish to use the one next to the head tube for the rear brake compressionless cable housing...end up fitting hydro disk brake instead of mec/hydro.

I know you guys hate cable hydraulic brakes with a passion, but Juin Tech just released their 6 piston calipers. Though price is a bit steep at $244 USD per caliper!

Updated: Also Juin Tech F1S calipers are now released with an updated pad adjuster on the side of the caliper:

Anyone tried those calipers?

Sorry! Totally forgot!
One set of photos is the Drive 45mm disc (not the gravel version) with 28mm Schwalbe Pro One TLE (tubeless) @ 70PSI. Please excuse my janky calipers.
Tire width = 29.5mm
Rim width = 28.5mm

The other is the Drive 50mm rim.  Tire is 28mm Michelin Power Road Tubeless @ 70PSI
The rim version of the wheels is slightly wider on account of the brake track
Tire width = just shy of 30mm
Rim width = Just shy of 30mm

What about braking performance of 50V? Have you ever tested Fulcrum/Campagnolo AC3 brake track to have a comparison?

Finally got mine built. Going for a shortish ride tomorrow to sort out some adjustments

Which Jiun brake do you fit?

I just put down a deposit for the frame version that takes an externally routed handlebar (US$495.00 with frame, fork, seat post, clamp). Sharing the diagram Wing sent me that shows the routing. Getting a headset for regular round spacers. Oh, and the flatmount bolts in the rear should be for 20mm chainstay width (so, 33mm).

By the way, interesting to see how close the geo is to the Canyon Grizl and Devinci Hatchet. Excited for some more modern geo & axle standards for my current gravel bike (built around an octane one kode frame, which has been fun but a bit limited).

(It's US$650.00 with the CGB02 integrated handlebar.)

Someone knows if the external routing is made by drilling the internal routed frame?

Did they tell you if it will be available in the future ?

They reply "we won't be making szie M size again this year" and then "we will change some places and adjust the price.
The details are still up in the air"

If you mention the Carbonda 505... why not the 505?
It is available again. It's just not directly visible on the webpage.
I have seen some 505 builds recently.
But it's not less than 1kg frame weight.  Mine is about  1250g for the painted frame in size S

unfortunately not available in my size M 54.....

There is no reason required for a new bike  8). but if you feel better, the 505 is old.

;) still the shape of the frame is quite similar to currently sold bikes.

Agree, and aslo the 696 is too much MTB....maybe 696 with front 505 fork?

.... prevent tight bends (internal routing) .....

BR Chris

I'm afraid of this in my new build with full internal routing.......

True.
But my experiences is that I will get wheel-lock before I see any benefit from having 4 pistons. :-)

I thought more stopping power means more modulability

None.  Because I already bought and have been using the GT-Fs.  Lol

But…for all of you still weighing options:
Juin Tech GT-F: $280 CAD. Natively designed for 160mm. 4-piston. Comes equipped with pads, as well as a spare set. Comes with 3 sets of bolts for different chain stays. 332g for the system including mounting hardware
Available on AliExpress

Onirii BR-05: $125 CAD (for 160mm version). Natively designed for 140mm. 2-piston. Comes equipped with pads. Comes with 3 sets of bolts for different chain stays. Comes with some cable crimps. Comes with 160mm adapters.
369g for the system including mounting hardware.
As of posting, only available on Taobao.

A note on Taobao: It can be used internationally, but you need to be able to read Chinese, or have a friend who does. It accepts international credit cards, and shops internationally - at least the vendor I bought the calipers from did.

Buying is a two-step process. First you need to buy the item. This gets you domestic shipping (free in my case) to the nearest port in China.
Once it arrives, you receive a notification to arrange international shipping.  If you bought a bunch of stuff on Taobao, you can wait for items to aggregate at the port and have them shipped together. If you have a ton of stuff, you can arrange things to be shipped by ocean freight (at least as far as I could tell)
Most of us will just get Cainiao shipping (or whatever retail option is available). This cost me $40CAD and is included in the price above.
If you don’t pay, the item just sits at the port. I don’t know what happens if you let it sit there forever.

Then, you can sit back and wait for the package to arrive.  All in, it took about 3 weeks from purchase to door for me.

Any side by side comparison between Juin Tech GT-F and Onirii BR-05?

im currently running jagwire sport inner cables and i was previously using jagwire pro. cant feel any difference in stopping power and the weight difference is negligable. Im also running ables fully internally with an intergrated stem and juin tech brakes.

Which juin tech model?

Juin tech is overpriced but there are a couple of other hybrid disc brakes or cable actuated disc brakes avialable at better prices.

Yes, but Juin tech GT-F1 is the only one 4 pistons…

Hmm, didn’t realize that. I guess I will stick to sram force then so I don’t have multiple sets of bleeding tools etc
and it’s easier to maintain just one system

So campy would only really be an option with rim brakes

You can use the rim brake version shifters coupled with juin tech hydraulic disc callipers
