Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: SL8 Replica Build

Great and spicy topic :D

Do the replica frames also come with all the accessories and hardware? e.g di2 battery mount, as the seatpost is to narrow to fit the di2 battery. Or is the seatpost sightly wider than the original?

Would also be great to know if the seatpost is compatible. On most (if not all) SL7 clones, the original seatpost would not fit.

They don't provide you the battery holder for the seatpost which is suitably copied because they drill 2 holes for you in order to install the battery holder. So you either have to buy the real part (~9.99$) or buy a 3D printed one on Ali (which is more expensive).

I purchased a 1:1 copied of the frame and I can tell you that some specific details are unsuitably copied. If you check my fork, you'll see that I attempted to install the Specialized mount for the front caliber and it didn't fit at all. Apparently, they prefer to fit the size of standard mount.

Those recent days, I contacted many sellers on AliExpress in order to see if they sell the famouse RedBull Bora Hansgrohe frame and I notified that all of them provide me the same pictures, haha. So, I really wonder if all those frames came from the same manufactory.

If you're interested just search for light road frameset on Aliexpress, you'll know what it is when you see it.

Hey, very nice build ! Do you think you can share the link here ? I can't find neither the seller on AliExpress.

For the front caliber, did you have to use the Specialized SL8 adapter ? Thanks !

Hi,

I have a 50-34t Shimano R7100 crankset and a 11-34 (12S) cassette.

Is anyone who uses the same configuration as mine, would be kind enough to share the value of the indexing gears ?

I have been trying for hours but I can't figure out the suitable values in order to prevent any unusual sound and have a smooth gear transition.

Cheers !

Hi,

I have a question for the current owners of this groupset.

I haven't installed the groupset on my bike yet, but I would like to know if your rear derailleur (RD) was stuck on the 3rd gear when you initially set it up.

Here's my issue:
- I can't shift to the first or second gear when I am on the biggest chainring.
- I can shift to any gear when I am on the smallest chainring.

For context, I am configuring the groupset to work with a 12-speed cassette.

I saw that a similar issue was addressed in a previous post, but I wanted to know if it is normal to have this problem if the groupset is not installed on a bike.

Cheers

How much have you guys paid for it? I heard on youtube someone paid around 400 dollars (he's canadian but i would still assume USD) but I've never seen it anywhere near that price

I got mine in aluminium for 472USD (AliExpress coins + AliExpress 50$ coupon code + Seller's 80$ coupon code), disc brake version. I asked the seller the weight difference between the carbon and the aluminium version and he told me there was a difference of 0.1kg, that's why I did not opt for the carbon version. IMO, it was not worth the 60$ difference.

That is not good. I've bought 4 frames from Chris but not that one. Strange clamping system, especially 4nm. Did you use a torque wrench?
I'd email him and see what he says. AFAIK, frames that are cracked at the seat post are written off. Can it be just a paint thing? If you look inside the tube what do you see? Can you film what happens when you sit on the frame? Paint crack, fine, frame crack, landfill?

So I check inside the seat post and yeah they were two small cracks. I sent those pictures to Chris and we manage to get a new replacement frame. I'll put the current frame on my Kick Core and just use it for indoor training, I guess.

Hello!

I’m a new member here. Last October, I bought a 218 frame and spent the winter season indoors using it with my Kickr Core. Recently, I’ve noticed some cracks around the screw seatposts, and it seems like other members have experienced this issue too.

Have any of you dealt with these cracks yourselves? How was the customer service in addressing this specific issue?
