« on: July 14, 2025, 05:52:00 PM »Remove the rim or tubeless tape and shine a light inside one of the holes and you should be able to see the nipple inside and then how far the spoke is either inside the nipple (too short) or protruding from the nipple (too long). It's never perfect even if you get the spoke lengths right because of the tension however what you experienced is well outside of acceptable limits.
I'll try again. I remember last time I did so it was difficult to make out anything as the nipple is recessed quite deep due to the depth of the wheels.

Here are the pictures I promised with annotations depicting the replacement spokes being longer - I still don't know if they're the correct length for the wheel. I'm just documenting what I see (have no experience with wheels but I'm learning a lot now).

I am frustrated now. They insist that it's "impossible" that the wrong spoke lengths were installed - not sure what they're implying. This is poor customer service and getting it built will cost extra time and money (I have no experience with relacing wheels).
I bought two wheelsets from them - so far only one wheel exhibited this failure. How do I know the other wheels were built correctly???
I even provided a photo of the different spoke lengths. Will take more and share them here. They initially said there's a difference in length between rotor and drive side - yes, I'm fully aware of that.

I just received the new spokes from Easedon.
Since all of the affected spoke/nipples are on the disc side, I compared the newly received spokes to the original spokes. The new spokes are longer than the original ones.
Thanks to those who pinpointed that it may be that the spokes are too short. Judging from the failure of the nipples, it does seem to indicate that the spokes were not threaded all the way through (because they were too short) leading to the failure that I witnessed.
Now comes the fun part of learning how to rebuild a wheel.

They're shipping another set of spokes to me - on the plus side they've been communicative. I suspect as others have posted here that the spokes were too short and didn't screw into the nipples all the way - I have never worked on wheels myself but will report my findings on spoke length when I get a chance.

Once you take the rim tape off take a picture of the nipples in the rim to show how far the spokes go into the nipples.
I removed the rim tape, and pointed a flashlight into the spoke holes - not sure how I would be able to tell if the spokes are too short. Unable to photograph since the wheel is deeper and the end of the spokes are really recessed.
Here are the bits I removed from the wheel after shaking for a bit.

I haven't removed the tire/rim tape yet. I'll do so and post my findings.

« on: July 01, 2025, 12:37:17 AM »There is a review of exactly this problem on one of their wheelsets on Aliexpress. I would have both wheels build up with new spoke nippels. I would not dare to trust the nipples they used.
Are you able to link to that review? In my messaging to Easedon they say this is the first time theyve seen this issue - however, perhaps the agent who corresponded with me isn't aware of all the issues?

I don't see any damage to the rim itself, the nipples (three) just fractured on their own. There are now bits in the rim and it rattles when i move it around - will remove the tire and inspect more. Reached out to Easedon and they sent the info to their technical team. Will post outcome here.

I ordered two pairs of wheels late last year. Due to a bad bike injury early this year I wasn't able to start riding until April. I built up my Time ADHX and have been riding with the first pair of wheels with no problem.
I decided to put gravel tires on the second set (ordered assymetric) and am around two weeks (three rides) into riding them. Last night I heard a loud bang, I thought it was the tire seating itself. To my surprised I saw a spoke had come off the rim. When I went to move the bike another two gave a loud pop and came off as well. Upon inspection, it looks like it cracked at the nipple.
I've never heard of such thing happening, let alone experiencing this on any bike. Any one have any ideas as to why/how this happened?
My tires were inflated to 45 psi.
