Hey guys, got mine replacement frame today.
I can see they improved things.
E.g. the mounting of the bottle cage screws inside the downtube.
Unfortunately the frame is broken, see the Video.
Transportbox is mit damaged, so i guess it happened before packaging.
Very frustrating.

Eric Cartman had awesomo 3000. This is bummero 3000 :/
Haven't heard of frames broken in transport for a long time. Very odd.

They're going to send me another frame. Then I'll have three identical frames here, two of which are broken. What should I do with them? 😅 Does anyone have any craft ideas for the broken frames?

That's a nice display for a coffee shop if you have one or if you know someone who has.

I suspect that when sanding before painting, too many layers of the carbon layup were sanded away. I think 4 or maybe 5 layers were sanded through, as you can see in the photo. Designs with edges don't seem to be ideal in this regard. I'll test the next frame very carefully.

That's a normal carbon fiber layup look.

I know what carbon looks like. This is my 10th frame with a raw carbon finish. I don't think you understood what I meant. This isn't just a regular seam between two carbon plies. When the frames come out of the mold, they're sanded down to remove excess resin and prepare the surface for painting. However, excessive sanding can cut through the top layers of carbon. That's exactly what happened here at the edge in the middle of the down tube. When you press on it, you can feel that the carbon layer isn't thick enough here anymore.

Have you received the replacement frame yet?

bigApple

You mean the replacement frame for my replacement frame? Unfortunately, not yet—since I'll be away from home for a whole month, I'd have to ask Jack to send the frame later. I don't think I'll get the frame until early to mid-November.

frewster

Yes, that is what I mean. I have read the thread and saw the issue with the first replacement.
