Quote from: pedalino on Today at 08:38:47 AMWhich cassette, chain, and chainring do you recommend? There's practically nothing available for 14-speed setups yet, and even for 13-speed, options seem quite limited. Could those who have already set this up offer some advice? Thanks a lot!

Don't plan using it for 14 speed, going for 13 speed. skrill AXS 50T 3mm offset narrow wide, axs flattop style chain.

The freehub you need for the groups casette is HG, you can check https://www.mywhaleroad.com/r7/. for more specs.

Its the same group only rebranded for European market.

Chainring:
  • Ratio. It's compatible with up to Campag 13 speed. Given the Sentyeh/Whaleroad 14 speed cassette is wider than the Campag 13 speed one I don't think the ECS/R7 14sp chain will be much narrower than the Campag 13sp. So the Ratio ring might be 14 speed-proof.
  • Senicx. They claim it's compatible with 9/10/11/12/13sp "conventional" chains. Conventional as in non-flattop?
Might also be 14sp-proof for the reasons above

Cassette:
There are are several cheap (mostly heavy, plasticky looking and badly spaced) 13 speed HG cassettes on AliX. Brands like Rydex, Goldix, Sunshine, Sensah, ZTTO. Some look exactly like a slightly heavier version of the "official" R7 13 speed cassette.

They lack any kind of specification but might work with the Campag 13 speed chains or the 13 speed SUMC or YBN chains also to be found on AliX. SRAM 12/13sp flat top chains might be too wide.

(There are also lightweight 13sp Goldix/ZTTO cassettes. But there are more expensive than the Rival XPLR or even Force).

Chain:
The official R7 chain is called "13/14 speed" and made by YBN so dimension-wise it could be identical to those YBN 13 sp non-flattop chains on AliX et al.

Other than that you could just go full (chainring, chain, cassette) SRAM XPLR (needs XDR and UDH dropouts and special hanger for the cassette) or Campag Record X or Ekar (expensive, needs N3W body for the cassette).
