Daniel offered to send the frame anyway and give me a small refund if I didn't like it in person. I accepted because it still looked great in the photos, and he said the finish looks even better in real life. He was right, it really shines in person.

The paint looks awesome! What kind of painting is it?

I ordered from Light Cycling on August 28 because I wanted a custom paint job and really liked their paint options. It arrived on October 21, so almost 2 months from order to delivery. I paid $960 total for the frame, paint and shipping.

Paint: There was a small hiccup during painting. I'd asked for Pantone 2645 C, but the purple in the photos came out a lot darker. Daniel offered to send the frame anyway and give me a small refund if I didn't like it in person. I accepted because it still looked great in the photos, and he said the finish looks even better in real life. He was right, it really shines in person.

Build notes: Not perfect, but pretty smooth overall. A few things to watch out for:
- After dry-fitting the fork to mark the steerer cut, the top bearing wouldn't come out. I had to tap it out with a mallet and a pick. It works fine now, but the bearing fit is pretty tight.
- One of the front caliper mount threads must have gotten some paint in it. It was really stiff, but it went in with some patience and force.
- Minor paint flaw near the UDH bolt. You'd only notice it up close.
- The stock seatpost clamp bolt rounded before reaching the 8 Nm spec printed on the clamp. I swapped it for a steel bolt and have had no slippage since.

Everything else was good. The BB threaded in by hand, and the caliper mounts are faced properly (no rubbing, at least).

Build list:
- Wheels: Tagoola, 32 mm internal, 50 mm deep, 1400 g (can't remember the exact model)
- Tires: Dubnital 2.2 trail casing for winter, might go faster for summer
- Crankset: RPANTAHI 160 mm
- Power meter: Thinkrider PP5 (still testing, I think it reads a bit high)
- Chainring: Pass Quest 42T
- Bar: Uno Gravel 380 mm
- Stem: random 100 mm -10° from my parts bin
- Shifters: Ultegra Di2
- RD: Shimano RX827
- Calipers: Zrace XG. I might replace these. Bleeding them is awful and the braking doesn't feel great.
- BB: BikeOne

First impressions: The 2.2" tires are really comfortable. It's hard to judge the frame yet, since I sold my last gravel bike about 3 months ago and have mostly been riding road since. My old frame maxed out at 40 mm tires, so this feels like a different world.

What model is this from Lightcycle?
