ELILEE SUANNI – A Few Updates

I've been speaking directly with my contact at ELILEE, who has confirmed a few additional details about the new SUANNI aero road frame.

Pricing

The officially announced Chinese domestic prices are:

* Standard painted frameset: ¥11,800 RMB (approx. $1,770 USD / €1,575 EUR / £1,310 GBP)
* Raw carbon frameset: ¥16,800 RMB (approx. $2,520 USD / €2,240 EUR / £1,870 GBP)

Both prices include the integrated handlebar. International pricing hasn't been confirmed yet, so these are simply approximate currency conversions of the Chinese domestic prices.

Interestingly, the raw carbon version costs ¥5,000 more because ELILEE uses special moulds for the finish, which apparently have a much shorter service life, increasing production costs.

The raw carbon version is also limited to just 20 frames per size.

Technical Specifications

Some preliminary information reported elsewhere suggests:

* Frame weight: approximately 700g, including the integrated seat mast
* Fork weight: approximately 350g
* BSA threaded bottom bracket
* Maximum tyre clearance: possibly 32mm
* T1100/M90 carbon construction

However, none of these specifications has been confirmed to me directly by ELILEE, so they should be treated as provisional.

The integrated seatpost (ISP) design is staying. ELILEE has reportedly developed two different seatpost insert options, including one that allows some additional saddle height adjustment if the integrated mast has been cut too short.

It's a clever solution to one of the potential problems with an ISP, although it doesn't entirely eliminate the limitations.

Aerodynamic Testing

There's been information published about CFD aerodynamic development and planned wind-tunnel testing at Silverstone in the UK.

I've asked whether the Silverstone testing has been completed and whether the results or technical white paper will be released.

However, ELILEE isn't prepared to disclose further technical information at this stage, as the frame is still undergoing development.

Availability

This is probably the most important update.

My contact at ELILEE explained that the frame is still undergoing significant development and modifications, with production framesets currently expected in Q2 2027.

ELILEE has made it clear that they don't want to release additional specifications until they've been officially approved, as some details could still change before production.

My Thoughts

Personally, I think the SUANNI is a really good-looking frame, particularly the raw carbon version.

The Chinese domestic pricing also looks competitive, especially considering the integrated handlebar is included. Obviously, that depends on how much the price increases when it eventually becomes available internationally.

The reported 700g frame weight is interesting too, particularly as that includes the integrated seat mast.

For comparison, my size 54 Specialized Tarmac SL9 weighed exactly 600g after the original factory paint was stripped, before being custom repainted. So I'd be interested to see what the SUANNI actually weighs in production form.

My biggest reservation is still the integrated seatpost. Personally, I'm not a fan of ISP designs, mainly because of the limitations with saddle height adjustment, travelling and resale value.

I'll share any further information as and when it becomes available.
