Complete 29+ Bike Build Kit (Just needs frame) $1200
« on: November 10, 2016, 09:09:33 AM »
My Stache 7 got into a minor accident while it was on the back of my car and had some frame damage.  I settled a claim with my insurance company and purchased a replacement bike but all the parts that were on the Stache 7 are good and I am deciding to either buy a frame and build a second 29+ bike, which I don't need, or selling all the parts for someone else to do the same.

I thought I'd see if anyone on the Chinertown forum is thinking about building a 29+ bike, if so I have all the parts with the exception of a frame that I'd be willing to sell cheap, all you need is to buy a frame.

Here are the list of parts, please note, these parts are only 6 months old, I purchased the bike in April of this year:

-> Manitou Magnum 29+ Fork
-> Stache 9 Wheelset DT Swiss 350 Hubs, Sun-Ringle Mulefut rims, DT Swiss spokes, XD Freehub
-> Trek/Bontrager Chupacabra 29+ Tires
-> Trek/Bontrager Carbon Bars 760mm
-> Trek/Bontrager 70mm Stem
-> Trek/Bontrager Headset
-> Trek/Bontrager Seatpost
-> Trek/Bontrager Evoke Saddle (Titainium Rails)
-> Trek/Bontrager Seat clamp
-> Bontrager Grips
-> SRAM GX 1400 Crankset (new)
-> SRAM XX1 11-spd Trigger Shifter
-> SRAM XX1 11-spd Rear Derailleur
-> SRAM XX1 11-spd Cassette
-> SRAM 11-spd Chain
-> SRAM PF92 Bottom Bracket
-> Shimano M8000 XT Complete Brakeset with IceTech Rotors)

Literally everything you need to build a 29+ bike, you just buy a frame like a CS-496 from Peter.  You'd be saving several hundred dollars in parts and getting everything all at once.  I'm willing to split the shipping costs with the buyer.  PM me for any questions.

This is a great opportunity for someone is is going to build a 29+ bike anyway.
All components have very light wear, no damage, and are in almost new condition.

I can post pictures of individual parts but for now here is a picture of the bike with all the parts on it so you can get an idea of what the bike with all the components assembled looks like.

I might be interested in some of the parts. The crankset and brakeset could be used on my daughters upcoming build.

Is the crankset the hollow version or is it concave on the inside of the crank arm? Length? price?

Brakeset price with out the rotors?

And my 29+ could use a fork. Not that I need to spend the money on that right now but..... price?

Thanks and enjoy the 9.8

Hi bxcc, I'm really looking for someone who wants to build a complete bike and sell all the parts at once.  I don't want to part out all the components individually just yet.  I'm even still considering building another bike, but I'd hate to invest in a frame just to turn around and sell the complete bike.  Although that might be an easier sale.

I would love to take all of it and build one for the wife as a winter bike since she has been asking about fat bikes. Unfortunately she is still in sticker shock from her TB3 build and makes it more than clear that she is done buying bikes for awhile.   ;D

That's kind of where I'm at.  I've already spent enough money on bikes this year, not really wanting to invest in another frame and build another bike right now.

Same here! Even though I got a frame free, I have spent A LOT this year on bikes. But now I get 2 brand new bikes, top of the range, and a home trainer setup that is going to get me fit for the very early days of the next season.

Selling the parts is going to be difficult I guess. The CS-496 frame is really excellent (except that dawn RD internal routing) and it will be easy to sell if you just built it and let people test-ride it.

Good luck with the sale!

I'm still contemplating selling all the parts or keeping them and building a second 29+ bike.  Even if I sell all the parts individually, I should net at least $1200 according to past listings on eBay.  It's just that I am not looking to invest a lot of my time in listing items and shipping them.

I know that other Chinertown members like bxcc would be interested in some of the parts, so maybe it wouldn't be much of a chore to get everything sold.

I ended up building the bike using a Stache 9 frame I purchased.  Since I also have a Stache 9.8, I've got the 9 for sale.

Here is my CL posting:   http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/bik/5935726962.html

PM me if you are interested.

Finally sold my Franken-Stache 9 last Saturday.  Sold to someone who'd never mountain biked before, the Trek dealer recommended a Stache for him since he's a big guy (290 lbs).  Of course since it's Spring, Large Stache 7's are backordered.  The buyer got a better deal than buying new IMO.  Hopefully he enjoys his new bike.
