No structural damage. Just a small imprint where the shock  body would hit

Surely we could file it down slightly tonmake space for the shock? The frame is very strong in that area. Once done, add some clear coat and frame protection?

I just tried fitting a Fox Float X on... only to find that the air canister also hits the frame. This is garbage.

Edit: I made a dumb. It fits fine.

Hmm... maybe I was too hasty in my judgement. Bolted down and up to air pressure it has about 1 mm of space from hitting the frame.

Nice! What bottom bracket?  Did you get the SLX groupset off of alie?  Interested to hear more about the lightcarbon wheels!

I have same drivetrain using shimano BB-MT800; better looking than bb52 cost more, last more and thats about it.

has anyone built the LCFS947 as a mullet?

How much will the BB drop with a 27.5" rear wheel, 2.6" and a 29" front wheel, 2.4", and a 160 mm fork?

I’ve been using mine as a mullet for most of this season. Only difference is 29x2.5 front @ 170mm travel, 27.5x2.5 rear.

I’ve not measured the BB drop but it doesn’t seem much diminished. I only pedal strike a little more than as a full 29er but it’s still not common.. that would be solved by going to 165 cranks.

The bike is definitely slower as a mullet but loads more fun to ride. I highly recommend trying it.

Thanks for your reply and sharing your experience.

Light Carbon answered me that the BB will drop 17 mm to 330 mm if I run it as I asked. 330 mm is not too bad and with 165 mm cranks maybe pedal strike want be a problem.

Im really considering this as a fun option :-)

Do it. I have not once considered going back to full 29. But also I only ride my 947 downhill. No pedaling required.  ;D

For general riding (albeit very gravity-focused and often in the big mountains), I tried converting both a 29er and 27.5 frame to mullet and found it felt unbalanced and a little awkward in both cases, each a little differently. If I was pure gravity riding, particularly lift served, it would have been less of an issue but I just felt faster, more stable and capable on the pure 29er.

Personally I’ve become a full on 29er (29x2.6) convert in the process and will probably not ride anything else ever again. I was a 27.5 guy for years but mainly because I just hadn’t spent enough time on a dialed-in 29er with big enough tires.

Hi Benny, what's about your frame now?Has the assembly been completed?
post some photos pls.

sorry for my English, i am Malaysian, bear with it

here i gonna share my build that finish last week, and been participated a DH competition in malaysia mersing,
frame size is M size

Parts :
FOX 36 grip 2 160mm
FOX float X2
Formula CURA 4 4 piston brake
(gonna change to deore 4 pot due to compatibility to frame and deore 4 pot is the best brake and value in my humble opinion)
Shimano m9100 rotors
MULLET setup: entity SLX 29/27.5 (from polygon T8/7)  gonna try LC rim when the bills pile up
Shimano deore 1x12 CS
Shimano deore FC crank
Shimano XTR RD
Shimano pro 50mm stem
Shimano pro handle bar
Shimano pro seatpost
FOX transfer 175mm dropper (not recommend it, too long even with 180cm height)
vinyl wrap Mazda soul red but turnout it more like a charry red

I did printed out the mudguard that shared by Tjhosan to see is it fit float x2,
however it is a blind section, i guess it is ok, as i survive 2 feet drop and huge road gap without cracking the mudguard..

geometry is superb, came from polygon t8 L size 29er user, this bike felt light to control on air, fun, rock garden section became so much controllable compare to T8

to the dropper length, 175mm dropper definitely is a huge NO for m size frame, i barely use 125 of droppers travel, and i am a 180cm height person
the 130mm insert is not enough to make the dropper comfortable either climbing nor moving in the air.
gonna change to 150mm dropper, and i guess it will be perfect as it will lower down at least 25mm length at retreated position.
