LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets

Hi everyone.

I ve been reading the forum for the last week trying to find if anybody else has ever had the issue I’m facing with no success.

We purchased a batch of 10 eR9 V3 groupsets for a small racing junior team and in less than 2 weeks all of the groupsets have had issues working under normal conditions. The main issue is that after riding in rough terrain like bad quality pavement or after going into a pothole both the rear derailleur and front derailleur stop working. No matter how many times the shifters are pressed they simply don’t work. And after trying many times we found that connecting the charger suddenly makes the groupset work again. I haven’t been able to understand why it solves it, but it does on most occasions.


Other issues include having the groupsets work in a training ride but then after a couple of hours it would be dead, not asleep, but dead, only to come back to life after a lot of fidgeting but with no clear cause.


And as you know LTWOO support is not any help until now….

We are very sorry to see this.....isnt there a way to get sponsored quality items? mounted on your teams bike.
We have warned about Ltwoo many times in the past, but it seems, they still sell these groupsets knowing, they do not work flawlessly.....i have seen and noted the price raise, this usually means, they have some sort of distributors on board now and need to offer margins....?

I have been having issues with indexing my v1 Er9. I do the indexing, all gears are smooth and then when I keep shifting up and down to confirm all is smooth for all gears, I notice that the gears are not smooth and are even skipping for some.

Anyone else had that issue? It is as if the rear derailleur looses it's indexing even if the app shows the same position value as when it was running smooth seconds ago.

Are you a ltwoo sales person? i do not get the idea of recommending a grouptset which does not work in most of the cases...?

The user is just informing of a new product (a second version of the TT groupset that has buttons on both the bar ends and the brake levers - I think initially it was only on the bar ends). It's not a recommendation.

Haha If you'd look a bit further than that, it's not difficult to see that I also had problems with my ltwoo groupsets. But because I'm also dealing with Shimano and SRAM everyday (more 5 days a week), I know it's not something specific to ltwoo and find their products interesting.

we have not had one defective on shimano or sram tt groupsets we installed..we were just lucky i suppose :-)
At the end, we can only sell, what keeps the customers and athletes happy.
and a dnf because of a groupset fail is not what we are looking for....therefore a tt groupset from Ltwoo may look interesting, but thats it.....
so you are stating sram and shimano have the same failure rate at your shop?

We sell 90% Shimano, 10% SRAM and I try privately ltwoo because it's cheaper for me even with Einkaufpreis from Paul Lange.

So for the rate of ltwoo I can't say more than my personnal experience. But for Shimano we send back nearly everyday something (mainly defective pistons oring from calipers or dynamo hubs). And from SRAM it's mainly the pistons from levers on new bikes but it's rare.

I wouldn't consider advising for any clients ltwoo E groupset. But I'm really happy with mine, even with the problems. It helps to force Shimano and SRAM to realise that they should really try to do better if they don't want to lose market share in the next years.

Paul Lange sucks...
well, we are basically free of defectives for di2 groupsets and sram groupsets for tt purposes...but we hardly sell them because of the price war...usually our client buys cheaper than us ordering at paul lange.....you know what i mean.

Exported Chinese electronic groupsets are best for people who are good at figuring stuff out on their own. I'd say 90% of cyclists I meet are pretty clueless. The bike shop guys I know either can't process or have such an internal bias they can't even comprehend a bike market outside of the current western market. Even the anti-bike bike guys are somewhat snobbish with their reverence for everything boutique, steel or titanium and they visit Blug Lug in Japan as some sort of religious patronage. 

Saying that, I've been quite satisfied with my 3 LTwoo groupsets. The pros to me outweigh the cons, the price was way affordable, the groupset is incredibly flexible and I've been able to dial-in my shifting and performance. I used Shimano Ultegra mechanical as my baseline for performance and tuned my ER9 groupsets around that.

The FD seems to not got fully inboard. Even with the lowest limit (2), it seems to not fully go to the max as I can push the cage and it moves to make some space.
Can'T figure out a solution, either it rubs on the 34/34 combo or the 9th gear and small front chainring combo. Can't have both work.
Anyone had this issue? I followed every video instructions and manual for cage alignement and tryed 1000x to reposition it with slight variation without succes.

I also am having problems with the front mech adjustment. For some reason the app doesn’t adjust when I try to + or - them?

L-TWOO released an app update which has resolved my speed settings issue.

I resorted to setting up the front mech manually using the shifters instead of the app
