Racework 3D30 Ultralight Crankset

Hello Chinertown,

I just want to ask if anyone has this kind of crankset? I am planning to get this one instead of Shimano cranksets due to the bonding issues even with the newer gen cranksets. I chose this one because of steel 24mm axle and can also fit BB86 frame.

Are you sure it's a steel axle? The picture mention it's an aluminum axle

I think you got the wrong product. This is what I was talking about. I also confirmed thru message that it was indeed a steel axle.

If bonding issues are a concern, Shimano 105 R7000 and R7100 cranksets have one-piece forged construction that do not use glue.

Cranksets in the style of that Racework generally work fine. They do have some quirks worth knowing about, the chainrings generally don't last as long as Shimano ones, and the straight crankarms (as opposed to Shimano crankarms which curve outwards) don't have much heel clearance when pedaling.

I was considering the Racework cranks until I found the Senicx DUB crank set which has 165mm length for my need. And using the spider. I found some cheap Sram red and Ultegra chainring.which is quieter than the chainring it came with..

105 has never been glued - even the newest Shimano 105 12-speed crankset is still hollow forged. Only Ultegra (6800/R8000/R8100) and Dura-Ace (9000/R9100/R9200) are glued.

Can't personally comment on stiffness but Hambini has said that having a cut-out section on the back of the crank arms is less stiff than a hollow design (like Shimano or Rotor). Not sure if it's a noticeable difference in practice.

 I am also considering this one. I might change the chainrings to Sram or Stone tho my concern is the weight which is quite heavy but it's cheap lol.

If this is true, then I might go with Shimano 105 R7100, though there is no 52/36 option on our local bike shops, I might just go with 50/34 and buy 52/36 Stone Chainrings.
