Kocevlo Integrated Handlebars
« on: October 26, 2024, 11:19:41 AM »
Hey all, have been a bit of a lurker but decided to join to ask some questions proper. Recently I've been looking at Kocevlo integrated handlebars (specifically, https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006561735597.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.13.36045e3dEFnH63&algo_pvid=0e683c72-8a15-4ee0-9d19-865e363905b4&algo_exp_id=0e683c72-8a15-4ee0-9d19-865e363905b4-6&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21GBP%21119.44%2153.95%21%21%211075.08%21485.62%21%40210390c917296377002728725e1c75%2112000037679359616%21sea%21UK%210%21ABX&curPageLogUid=0vZEiUP2JIth&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch%7Cquery_from%3A#nav-review)

I've found limited information here and there so I was hoping this thread would attract all those with experiences to give their two cents - whether about the Kocevlo specifically, or about the other 'brands' of the same bar that bear the same shape (and likely come from the same manufacturer, eg, Hygge (?)).

To be clear, I'm only looking at this purely for fun - I don't race, nor do I do super long rides, but I like the look of the bars and I'm interested in the experience of fitting on new bars. £50 or so is a price I'm willing to swallow for this - if I were going to upgrade a 'proper' bike, I'd go for The One Pro handlebars or something equivalent. My bike (a B'Twin 520) is currently set up with external cables, which I'll route into the handlebars. I'll also be getting a torque wrench to properly torque this down. Not sure if I'll need carbon paste.

Grateful for any thoughts on the Kocevlo's I'm looking at, or Kocevlos in general, or other 'brands' of the same bar - or, if you have experience, tips for installing the bars on myself. Thank you so much!

I've got this kocevlo cockpit with a velobuild frame when I asked for a narrower bar. The cockit itelf is very well made  and looks great but a major drawback is the spacers that come with it. They are very very flexy almost like a rubber. When you preload the headset they deform and rub the frame. Internally routed cables also cause deformation of the spacers even though there's not that much pressure.
Can't recommend it

Thank you for this. I'm thinking if there's any way to get another set of spaces - perhaps from The One? I'm thinking that since I'm using externally routed cables, it's less likely to deform, but I've heard bad things about the spacers. Bummer.

This is the same handlebar that Hygge are supplying with their frames, and recently started selling it as a handlebar only option. It is the same price as this from Kocevlo but it comes with aluminium spacers, so they will not compress.

I don't know if it comes with the headset compression ring, but I'm sure that they will include it if you ask. I have the bars, with the frame and they are pretty stiff.

The spacers are totally fine, it rubs because there is not enough stack when you compress the headset. You just need to use some shims to add some height to whole stack. I have zero rub on my Time ADHX45 with provided 52mm bearing cover and related spacers, just had to use stock Deda compression ring to have enough height for the headset cover. You will have even less issues on your Btwin since it uses smaller bearing and you can use even round spacers and original bearing top cap.

I have several of them. Maybe not the stiffest but for the price really good.

These bars came on my Seraph bike.

Rate them nightly considering the price they are. I'm 95KG and they have minimal flex.

Thank you for this - I weigh a little less, so I assume they'd be ok, but the area where I live has an annoying number of potholes so it's good to hear that they don't feel too fragile

Thank you! Yes I've been eyeing Hygge as a brand, did not know they sell the handlebars on their own. I might pick a set of this up, £70 is pretty good with aluminium spacers. Saw a YouTube video as well showing the handlebars + spacers and they look pretty decent.

Thank you! Are you aware if I'd need to replace my top headset bearing and the compression ring? I'm fine with doing so, but I'm cautious about opening up the headset to dig around and check out the hardware underneath the headset cover - don't have a torque wrench on hand yet, so I'm hoping to make this project sort of a one-and-one thing instead of having it sit around in the bike shed.
