LTwoo GRT on the way
« on: November 04, 2024, 12:05:37 AM »
Found the LTwoo GRT 1x12 aluminum groupset (levers, mech, hydros) for under $200us delivered, so had to order it up for a not to distant future gravel bike. Maybe a Poseidon, or something else, shooting for a sub $1200 total cost.

Will update once I have it, then in the future once I find something to install it on.

I have a Poseidon and went ahead and threw the eGR on there. Honestly, worth it. Great frame and the groupset has handled more abuse than I would have expected it to. Fingers crossed it can handle a gravel race series coming up near me.

Redwood or X? I didn't want to spend the money for the eGR, but wanted to get Hydraulic brakes, and was looking at Jun Tech 4 pots, but that was the same price as the 12 speed groupset with Hydro.

X Ambition (1st gen, not the newest refresh).

Yeah, I wasn't super keen on the Microshift Advent X it came with. It was fine, at first, but by about 500 mi on it I couldn't keep it dialed in for more than 1 ride at a time. I was fine with the brakes, though. I never really had a problem with the stock cable actuated brakes, but my understanding is that the X Ambition had slightly better brakes than the original X. Still, lots of people complained about them and I never really understood it. Yes, the fully hydraulic bites way harder and easier, though. $350 was really not a bad price for me to have 1x10 (and now 1x12 once my new cassettes arrive), hydraulic brakes, and never having to re-dial in my derailleur even after 900 more miles.
