IP-057 Frame Size

Hi all

After reading so much about the IP-057 on this nice site, I decided that I will build a "chiner" myself.

But before I can buy the frame I need to have some advice on the frame sizes. My height is 186cm and my inseam is 89cm, I don't know if I should go with the 19'' or the 21''?. I asked Peter from XMIPLAY and he said I should try to ask you guys. I have also tried to find the answer in the big thread on mtbr, but with no luck. So I hope you can help me decide.

At 186cm (6'-1") and 89cm (35") inseam, I would definitely recommend a 21" frame. 
Disclaimer:  If the 21" frame and it feels too big, don't sue me .

I am 180cm tall with an 81cm inseam and a 19" frame fits me nicely.

I'm about 184 cm (6'.5") and about 85 cm inseam (33.5 inches) and I'm on a 19 inch 057 frame.

You have half an inch of height on me and 1.5 inches of inseam.. It is ALMOST too small for me.. I have my seat almost as far back in the seatpost rails as I can get with a medium length (75mm) stem and it's perfect. With that in mind, I would have to agree with CD that a 21" is what I would go with if I was you. Play with the stem, bar, and seatpost setback from there and I think you'll be good.

But I will just wait and see if there are more who had the same decision to make, before I buy it.

And by the way, my build is gonna take some time, I don't quite have the money to all of the components right now.

So I think it's gonna be done next year.

Yep.. definitely wait for more to chime in.. It's not a black and white decision.. part of it comes down to personal preference and component choice.

Im 6' 1", inseam 30.5", i chose the 19" IP-256SL. Two of my criterias for frame sizing is to make sure i dont have toe overlap issues, esp for 29ers. And whether i can fit my dropper post. If i get a 21", i would definately not be able to use my dropper. And lastly for safety, u r supposed to hv 2 or 3" of clearance over the standover height for a mtbike, but i dont believe china websites hv this dimension    If its of any help, my 19" frame has a standover of about 33" using a 120mm fork and 2.1 tires.

This is really good information and some I've been looking for for quite some time now. We should get a thread started with the goal of compiling a reference list of people's standover measurements with the different frames and their personal configurations. Just as you did. Unfortunately, I do net yet have a chiner to contribute to the chiner standover database. Soon.. Soon..

I actually managed to measure my inseam a bit more precise: 87cm instead of the 89cm. But I don't think it change anything you have told me yet.
