TanTan TT-x33
« on: April 05, 2022, 04:20:42 AM »
Hi all!

Has anyone had the chance to pick up this frame from TanTan?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003746871212.html?spm=a2g0o.placeorder.0.0.3a3b321eLeH437&mp=1

Geo says it is pretty much a Tarmac SL7, atleast in a 58 where i crosschecked on geometrygeeks. Max tire clearance is 28c

I think it looks interesting. Have been looking at the Dengfu R12 and Velobuild VB-R 177 for a do it all road frame, and this just popped up.

seems to be a copy of the SL7, in 56 all the dimensions are the same.

So sl7 = tt x-33 = VB-r-168

Does any one have feedback on this brand?

Maybe the seatpost is the same as on the SL7.

The frame shares pretty much all measurements with SL7 except for a 5mm longer chainstay. I guess thats because of the straight seattube rather than the cut out both the SL7 end VB-R.168 has?

I have owned one of their CX frames in the past, GR029. And I have no complaints, I really liked it.
And I have a new gravel grame, the GR040 in transit somewhere in China right now.

Maybe not the best CX, but quick to answer questions and the frame i had was really nice

Any particular reason why one would go with this TanTan frame over a VeloBuild or Dengfu?

And isn't TanTan part of one of the larger brand conglomerates?

Looks like it is the same frame as Trifox X18.
About Trifox I have heard good so far.
If they offered custom painting I might take a chance. I don't like brand names on the frame.

From what i've read, tantan/seraph has better quality control than velobuild, but worse post-sales customer service.

Yes it seems to be the same frame. And also the same as the Delihea Tank Machine someone asked about in an older thread here at the forum. Seems like Delihea is a big brand in Indonesia. Not saying that is any proof of quality though. But they do have a more subtle design on their frames than Trifox

Well, what sparked my interest was that it pretty much is a SL7 (seems to be pretty popular :) ) geo wise, without looking like a copy of that frame. Which I kind of like. That, and the fact that I previously owned a TanTan frame and was pretty pleased with the quality.

But I have to admit i´m leaning towards ordering a VBR 177 frame and slap on some 50/60 mm wheels combo, maybe Superteam.
Look forward to your review of that bike with proper wheels, if you find the time :)

looks good.

I checked the weight from their website x33 vs x34

x33

Weight: Frame:875g Fork:400g Handlebar:245g Stem:200g Seatpost:200g

x34

Weight: Frame:1166g Fork:390g

the frame of the x34 is 300g heavier than the x33

The geometry is the same like Trek Madone. Looks a bit like it

Apologies if I'm not answering at the right place, I'm kinda new to this forum and have only looked for threads without ever replying.

Anyone here has some experience with the newer models like the TT-X33? I dont' really know if it's a good idea to buy a more recent model when there's no customer feedback. Though I guess someone eventually has to be the first.
I personally like the style of the TT-X21, but I see there are more recent models that I like better, especially the TT-X22. What do you think? Should I go with it?
