Author Topic: R066 or 1056 or road bike on a gravel frame-188 cm,90 inseam?+bike disassembling  (Read 229 times)

Hello Everyone,

I'm in the proces of creation very first endurance road bike and facing a dilemma in terms of whichway will be the best way in terms of suitable size for long, comfortable rides for 188 cm height and 90 cm inseam.

In terms of Velobuild R-066 top tube in maximum available size(L) is 560 mm which seems to be a little bit short for my height however from the other side by comparing this geoemtry to Canyon Endurance CF7 2025 in L (suggested by Canyon based on my dimensions) they seems to be very similar in terms of TT however other dimensions comes to play here as well :

https://geometrygeeks.bike/compare/carbonda-cfr-1056-2020-xl,velobuild-vb-r-066-2023-l,canyon-endurace-cf-7-2025-l/

Are then here users of R-066 or Carbonda 1056 with the same or similar height as mine (188 cm-height, 90 cm-inseam?

If so then what size of those frames and integrated/separated handlebars(size of HB & stem) did you chose & if in the long term this choise was good (comfortable, upright position)?

Another idea is to find gravel frame with stack ca. 610 mm and reach ca.390 mm, change handlebar from gravel to the road one, add carbon wheels from Elite and built road bike based on gravel frame. Does it make sense ? Any pros and cons of such a approach?

In terms of integrated handlebar I'm used to partly disassembling bike for packing in my traveling case.

Could you advice how it will work with full integration & what solution will you suggest here-full integration or separated handle bar & stem? From the outlook perspective I will prefer full integration if it is still possible to pack bike into the case without too much hassle however I'm open on different points of view.

Other endurance frames which I should take into account?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi, 1,95m and 96cm inseam here. Not many Chineroptions with Stack > 600...
If Stack 610 and Reach approx. 390 is what you are looking for, check out the Yishun R068-D (XL), Hongfu FM238 (XL) or Carbonda CFR-505 SL (XL).
All discussed in this forum with plenty of content for reading, as well as the R-066.

Both options are great! You can add the Carbonda 1136, Tantan FM202 (or similar, eg. OGEvkin et) and the hongfu 238. This latest one haven't tried it yet as none of my clients wanted it yet.

All are great options. Hongfu and Carbonada are more expensive. The other two are on the cheaper side.

All these provide solutions for the HB (integrated or none) so i'd stick with them for simplicity.

I'm roughly your height and inseam and I can tell you that usually TT and VB L size is quite good if you play with the stem length. Just beware that different hb can have different reaches.

I'm expecting a frame similar to the FM202 mid this month in that particular size - Cecotti. I'll be able to provide more info then, but it should be the same mold

Have you got any of those personally-VB 066 in L or TT FM202 in L ?

If so could you share your height and inseam ? What stem length will you recommend for them in size L ?(top tube for both-560 mm)

Hi,

Any idea how to reach guys from Yishun ? Sent them already 2 emails. No response.

I have no experience with either of these frames, so can't comment on that.

Can look into the Carbon Speed CS-GR01 which is a speedy gravel crossover: https://www.xmcarbonspeed.com/Productinfo.asp?f=1639
The looks might be a bit eccentric but the sizes are generous. XL fits roughly your sought after stats. There is even an XXL version (636/398mm) available if you want to go bigger.

I would focus more on stack height as that is harder to alter - if you need longer reach you can manage that more easily with a longer stem or even an offset seatpost (if the frame supports one).
Slow on the climb. And everywhere else.

I don't have it for me but both are the 'same'
189. 89.5
I tried 110mm stem measured from top in handlebars which are L shaped (and don't have that to alike bend which adds like 10mm) and it was pretty comfortable. But didn't do many km. Position was on the upright side but had some spacers.

I have light carbon lcr 17 but its more agressive. I have the 58 with 110mm stem measured from top they call it 100 and 0 offset seatpost.

I'm 194 with a 92cm inseam and I'm riding the SP cycle G068 (canyon grail clone) in the XL size. 435 reach, 634 stack. Riding in a road setup right now, 38cmx100mm road bars, 35mm gp5000 AS on elite wheel ent gravel wheels. Most of the road bikes seem to have way too low of stack for me so this made the most sense. Get a road setup + the option to throw on gravel/mtb tires
