Anyone place an order before May 2nd from AliExpress and received after?  I have a pair of rims I ordered back in March that are stuck in customs. I'm assuming I'll get smacked with a big tariff charge.

F'n mess.

I'm still keeping up with my coins. I have access to a few international addresses I can ship stuff to. Though I would have to plan to have somebody pick up my items or take a trip myself to get the items. Hmm, what can I ship to Canada that will fit in a carry-on?  ;D

Dildos! a carry one suitcase full of dildos, just to troll airport security! Yes or yes?

I think i heard that what counts is the export date, ie the date when the parcel left china. If that happened before the cut off, you're supposed to be safe
Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.

I've no idea!  Does that count for de minimus too or just the tariff on $800+?  I guess I'll find out. Been in customs for 2 weeks already and says 'u.s.a. customs clearance of import u.s.' since 4/21.

I recently had a package get hung up at a US customs step for about 2 weeks. In fact, it was longer than 2 weeks. Because after 2 weeks with no updates I decided to re-order so as not to miss out on the item with the upcoming deadlines in case it never cleared. Just my luck it cleared a couple of days later so now I have 2 of that item (the second order arrived in record time, no customs hangup).

I was thinking one of those silicone dolls packed in my carry-on luggage should suffice!  ;D

Just got notification it's moving again. UPS has it. We'll see if it's hit with tariff bill.  I've not had anything yet so I assume it's ok as I don't think they'd release it from customs without a paid invoice.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/temu-halts-shipments-to-us-from-china-de-minimis-tariffs/

"President Trump on April 30 said the import duty exemption for parcels worth $800 or less amounted to "a big scam going on against our country, against really small businesses.""

ROFL. Literally everything that comes out of this dude's disgusting pie hole is a lie.

The only ones that will benefit from closing this loop hole are BIG businesses. Tariffs are going to absolutely DESTROY small businesses that don't have the capital to absorb the losses...or bribe him for an exception.

Yeah, after he got rid of the $800 de minimus, we the consumer will have to buy pretty much the same stuffs at a higher markup by the rich middleman like Amazon.
Manufacturing is not coming back to the US in any way. My kids are not going to work in those sweatshop factories, putting tiny tiny screws onto iPhones and whatnot.

Go ahead and bash Trump but note that last year House Democrats also attempted to end the de minimis exemption.

Yes, anyone paying attention knows both sides are terrible and Americas two team politics are basically one team, but this source is a joke. Whataboutsim is a weak argument and doesn't change the fact that Trump, MAGA politicians, and Project 2025 are why this is happening now and with such seemingly shortsightedness that will only benefit large corporations and the ultra rich.

Well…looks like some not so terrible news in all this mess.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/us-weighs-plan-to-slash-china-tariffs-to-as-low-as-50-down-from-145-as-soon-as-next-week-sources/ar-AA1EqkSu

So we'll just pay 50% on the national import tax? Wow we're so lucky, thank you Führer...I mean President! ::)

Old news. That was yesterday morning which in current times was ages ago.

Today the king said, in these exact words - "“80% Tariff on China seems right! Up to Scott B"

No surprise, but it looks like gravel carbon wheelsets are some of the first bike components to sell out. I'm noticing inventory is shrinking and wheels that used to be in ample stock are now out of stock.  :(
