my problem is with the configuration of the dropout, i don't get why we need the nut, wouldn't it be simpler to just bolt into the dropout?

I was thinking of buying one like the 2nd one you mentioned, but then to screw/unscrew it i imagine it would be a pain, because the nut is not fastened to anything, it would just turn on itself. You would have to turn on one side and secure the nut on the other somehow. Or am i seeing it wrong? Would that little side screw hold the nut?
