Great build - this is a great example of a value for money performance Chinese build. Glad to read that the build process was mostly smooth - hopefully the ER9 groupset holds up for you!

how much does shipping cost for wheels and frames to Australia, typically?

Frame shipping cost USD 106 (VeloBuild), while the wheels cost USD 53 (AliExpress).

Your airtag thing under the bottle cage is screaming airtag thing though ;)

Haha, yeah I agree, that was the first thing I noticed after taking the photo. The AirTag has now been relocated.  ;)

Reputation of spcycle wasn’t stellar already, now is even worse. I hope you can sort this out please continue giving feedbacks here thanks

Do you also offer the motor and battery, or will people need to source that separately?

4LEAF could provide all of them

Yesterday first rainy ride and groupset working without any issue :) FD and RD after changing batteries still work fine. So bat are really important here also :)

How recessed is the top recessed bearing? Can anybody measure? I attached a picture of what I mean. Basically, how far below the edge of the frame does the bearing rest?

bolded part is all industry marketing mumbo jumbo.  second part is true, but the main thing is about reducing deflection of the front wheel due to riding surface, wind, or manhandling the bike at high power out of the saddle and increasing stability at speed.  taller, heavier riders need this more, not less than smaller riders.

increasing reach (and thus FC) will only increase stability a bit - as it'll be a smaller amount and head angles would still be far too steep.

from a fit, bike handling and geometry perspective there is absolutely no reason for larger frames to have  steeper head angles.  whilst there's plenty for them to have slacker head angles.  the status quo is purely about package size.

also any further increases in reach are going to need increases in seat angle - they're already far too slack in larger sizes.

No, the bolded part is physics. Of course you can change other parts to the design to offset it (like lowering the rider). Fit and physics are often at odds in bike designs yet dependent on each other. Its a pretty hard thing to get right.

I am really split. I am fine doing some work on the frame but really want to avoid needing to replace it right away. Spcycles has some of the same molds as Velobuild. Is their quality any better?

I like SPcycle. They're straight forward and ship fast. Only downside is that my frame didn't come with plastic guide tubes (easy to route though) and the paint easily scratches. I would buy from them again if they had a frameset I wanted.

The hanger is fixed by 4 screws. So if they could provide a different hanger it could work.

I'll definitely give updates when I know something new.
So far I can't go on with the build. That sucks.
If I have to go with electronic shifting, the build will be mich more expensive than planned. And I also really like mechanical shifting.
I tasted the electric and it's really great for the settings which offer a lot of possibilities. Without counting on internal wiring, much easier. It's very difficult  to go back.
