You actually have a lot of spacers under the handlebars. Maybe this YT video on channel BBInfinite 2 years ago (Adjust a Headset Like a Boss) will help you compress your headset in the best way. I myself was amazed at the compression with plastic spacers

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Velobuild Advice
« Last post by alfiomotrambo on Today at 03:09:53 PM »
Hi everyone,

I'm considering the VB-R-168, VB-R-177, and VB-R-066 bike frames and ride about 15,000 km per year. I'd love some advice on these models.

How do they compare in terms of rigidity, comfort, and weight? Have you experienced any defects or issues with these frames? How easy were they to assemble?

Which frame would you recommend for durability and longevity?

I'd also appreciate any customer feedback or reviews from those who have used these frames.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers,
Alfio

I used the expander with the parts that were delivered with the frame. Works fine, clocked 1k km without issues.

Thank you

I have "upgraded" the headset expander plug and compression ring /base ring (the one with the holes to run cables through), so it matches the new version for the SL 7. However the new compression ring / base ring is a bit lower/thinner than the old one, meaning that the headset cover now sits so low that it is not clearing the frame. A solution could be to add a micro spacer or two (.25 mm each), to lift the headset cover back in to place, but I will need to cut them in a C-shape to make room for the cables. Another solution is of course to just use the one included with the frame. Anyone who has a need solution, or tried with the micro spacers?

Short update:
I did my first 50km ride today with best weather.

It was great and the bike feels amazing.

The only thing I have to get used to is the Free hub sound.
As it is a 36T Ratchet system, the sound is not "round". It's a little alternating which seems to be normal with ratchet Free hubs. But for me it sounds not so nice. Maybe I'll put more grease inside to get it less loud  :D

It's LCs C52DB-RD28-44C wheel set.

I'm being very picky here...

Looks great, happy riding!

looks cool.
U still think position is ok? or do you feel stretched?

How much did u pay for the shipping of frame + wheels?

As my gravelbike has also relatively sporty geometry, the feel here is very near to that. My gravelbike on paper have 12mm longer reach and higher stack. I definitely feel that on LCR017 the stack is lower which wasn't uncomfortable so far. I never had a bike fit so I don't know my perfect measures. All I can say is that I don't had any pain or bigger discomfort on today's ride.

I thought that LC give more stem spacers with the frame.
If I would order again, I would definitely ask for more spacers, as they only deliver one with 10mm and one with 5mm. I then would increase the high about 10mm I think.

Total shipping including EU taxes, for both packages was 287 USD.

I'm looking at older Crux framesets, like a 2019 model. No way I could buy a newer frameset!

Same here. Plus If I had one I would probably break it. I weigh 200 lbs, I could skip lunch and make up the difference in weight. LOL

Hello everyone,

I´d like to know how long these hubs can be expected to last, even in wet conditions, what is the delivery status (do they need some more grease anywhere?) and how high would be the effort to replace the bearings.
The alternative I have would be the DT Swiss 350 hubs.

Thanks a lot in advance

P.S.
I also posted the same topic in another spot of this forum not knowing where it´d better belong.
In case feel free to remove one.

It's not super light by any means but most stock name brand gravel bikes are over this. What alloy bike did you have that was lighter ? I had a Trek Checkpoint that was 21 lbs. I think without any of the junk (bags, tools, spare tube, food, bottles, f & r lights, garmin, gopro etc) on there it's 18 lbs. I have a Colnago Master that is 18 lbs LOL

I was originally using a Poseidon X alloy frameset that I eventually gifted to a family member. It was running in 1x configuration and it came out to about 20 lbs. I eventually swapped out the parts to an old 2017 Kinesis carbon frameset that I had laying around and now it's at the 7.9kg/17.5 lbs. mark. Nothing wrong with the frame, but it has external brake cabling. I'm tempted to drill an internal brake hole in the frame, but I'm worried about affecting the structural integrity.

The weight difference between my carbon road and gravel bikes are only about 1-1.5 lbs. Most of that extra weight is just in my tires, cassette and slightly heavier GRX shifters. I think my gravel wheelset actually weighs less than my road wheels.

I'm looking at older Crux framesets, like a 2019 model. No way I could buy a newer frameset!
