Subscribed.

Totally loving these fully custom, and now even personally branded, bike builds.

I almost bought a Chiner road bike at the beginning of the year, but really sub-par communication had me cancel the order.  Glad to see things are getting better!

Hopefully, this forum giving the consumer more of a voice - and the vendors a place to get feedback, will force the Chinese suppliers to up their game even more because if they don't they will lose business to those that do.

Also, Welcome to Chinertown!

Wow! It's kinda surreal that we may actually have a hoverbike in this decade or the next. Technology is just simply awesome. I often wonder of people truly appreciate the fact that we are living during  the explosion period of the technology information age.

Thanks for sharing those vids - Haven't seen either of them yet.

How cool would it be if there's a subforum on Chinertown in 10 years where we're all posting our Chinese carbon hoverbike builds?  ;D

Haha. Actually, I hadn't made that connection. I just randomly came up with it but I do know exactly what you're talking about! Made it my avatar  ;D

Ha! Awesome. Now the name totally matches the avatar in my head.

I made a lil chunk of change buying BP stock when it crashed after the spill. Not so sure this will rebound as well, tho.

Could be a good opportunity for Elon Musk and Space X??

Two very interesting points, Oolak.

And btw, this is pretty random, but I've been wondering for a while if you got your user name from the movie Apocalypto? Lol, I may totally off but everytime I read the word I think of this guy -

« on: October 28, 2014, 10:00:23 PM »
Hmm - This will interesting. I'm not all too familiar with the flyxii model of frames:

Does anybody know which if these frames is the equivalent of the 057 and 256 frames?

We'll find you the best frame once we get all the different models sorted. Til then, it looks like you should have plenty of stem left on your fork, which is good.

Two criteria that you'll need to check off your list is you'll need a standard BSA bottom bracket frame, and standard QR rear axle, bc I believe the expert model black flags aren't capable of converting to 142x12.

So, to get you started - your frame must be:

1.  standard BSA bottom bracket
2.  standard QR rear axle

After The Ride / Re: The "Chiner movement"?
« on: October 17, 2014, 08:38:20 AM »
I think it will grow as the Chinese companies improve their marketing and websites. Also, as people realize that it's actually pretty fun, rewarding, and far more simple than you might first assume to build your own bike.

Also, MTN bikers are all about customizing their bikes much like motor cyclists.. The enthusiasts will build to get exactly what they want. Personally, I couldn't imagine not being able to pick out all of the components separately. That's my favorite part! Of course, i realize that I am in the minority currently.

And like was already pointed out in this thread, I think lots of guys will buy chiner replacement frames and wheels (especially wheels, I think that's where the growth really will be - don't underestimate how large that market is alone) rather than just building their own bikes.

In summary - It's inevitable. The bikes/components come from China anyways. There's no reason that guys will continue to pay more to a middle man when they can save cash by cutting him out. Economics will dictate that the most efficient route will be taken, eventually.

Vendor Discussion & Reviews / Re: Wrong wheel set delivered
« on: August 28, 2014, 05:45:37 AM »
Well considering this is the vendor review section, I think which vendor it is, is actually a very important piece of information.

The vendor should absolutely send you the wheels you ordered and pay to have the wrong ones shipped back. That is what any reputable real company would do, and the standards should be no different.

Agreed on both accounts.

As long as they do the right thing, it won't hurt the vendors reputation, but actually help it. All companies make mistakes, it's how they handle those mistakes when they arise is what is important.

29er / Re: Ride Quality
« on: August 27, 2014, 10:57:39 AM »
By most accounts the rid quality on these frames are every bit as compliant as a name brand carbon frame. I'd def take a 256 over an AL superfly any day of the week.

I say get a 256,  a chiner seatpost, and hookless carbon rims, and call it a day,

I agree. If you're wanting/needing an all mountain chiner frame just give it a few months. Where there is demand, there will be supply.

That frame looks promising!

I agree. Looks really good! Now you just have to get those carbon rims on there, and you'll be good.

1x9 simply because that's what I have on hand. With a 32 x 12/36, I can handle all of my local trails (that's not saying much in Central Ohio)

Ok, I gotcha. I guess considering that your Sette is a single speed, nine speed should be plenty.

How do you like that X Fusion fork? I've read good things.. good price, too. I think we're going to start seeing more of those on builds.
