Re: Tideace 2022 29er Boost 12*148mm New Mold MTB029 And here finally my report on the two builds based on this frame.

First the frame quality. As you can see in the pictures.
The finish is so so... But ok, it is a relatively cheap frame.

The top and bottom headset cups were, how to say that... kind of rough?
And a quick look inside show wrinkles and carbon sheets going out everywhere.
Glad everything is closed now, so it does not exist anymore  ::)

Then comes a funny thing about the brakes.
This is XT brakes, quite standard.
At the rear, there is a fillet between the seatstay and chainstay that prevents the caliper to move outward as it should to avoid disc rub.
File the carbon fillet was probably not a good idea, so... yeah... file the caliper  ???
When asked, Tideace confirmed me this was the... solution  :o
And since we are at it, face the mounts maybe be necessary...

And finally the crank. It is BB92, which in itself is a bad news, but ok.
The frame is apparently designed for the Shimano's wide chainline of 56.5mm. Is this for DH ?
Thanks Tideace for not advertising it as such !

With a normal XT crankset, or SRAM a 32T ring will touch the chainstay...
So I did put a 2.5mm shim on the drive side to push the ring a bit outward.
The chainring clearance is bad but i got a 52.5/53mm chainline which is not ideal but ok.
I asked them some clarifications about this, but got you know... the typical non-answers, so classical when us indelicate occidental folks try to know why things do not work as we expect.
I may ignore an important thing about the Shimano 56.5mm chainline, but I can't understand how a 12sp cassette would work correctly with such chainline.

The FM-009 was a very nice frame, I'm less impressed by this one unfortunately.

My Carbonda FM1002 Build Finally got all the parts for my bike and got it assembled today.
Spent around 5-6 hours from start to finish.
The frame is a Large and is fitted with these parts:
SRAM Eagle NX drivetrain
RockShox Domain 170mm fork
RockShox Deluxe Ultimate rear shock
DT Swiss wheels set 30mm internal width
Schwalbe 2.6 Nobby Nick tyres(Tubeless)
LevelNine seatpost and a used saddle(so i could measure how much space for a dropper post)
E*Thirteen handlebar 800mm wide
Magura MT Trail Sport brakes 203/180mm

Any good "names" for the bike i can get some stickers made, was thinking about Chinalized(Specialized) or Cheep Scrap(Scott Spark).

Re: FM1002 / FM1166 - 150mm frame
I don't intend to do that. I just won't buy paint from them on future builds. The build price on this bike was... hefty. Getting $50 for a paint job that, while chippy, still looks pretty good isn't something I want to bother with.

I don't recommend DIY painting. Especially if you don't own equipment or place to do. Covering every hole is time consuming unless you have a machine for cutting sticker then you can simply measure, print and cover it up. It requires patience, planning and little bit of experience or moderate amount of youtube videos.

Also if you crash and cause chipped/scratched paint, you will understand the real pain. ;D

Re: Carbonda FM 1003 / Flybike FM 1266 180mm "Super Enduro"
ugh, I dislike Sherpa. They are a bit predatory. A while back when they had a lot frames, they said they were looking for Ambassadors. Anyone who applied was accepted and offered the the Sherpa Massif (Carbonda FM1001) or Sherpa Everest (ICAN P9) for a "huge discount". Of course it was actually still a big mark up on the Frames. They also lie about the P9's geo. They say its 65 Degree head angle (since they are overforking), but keep the 74 degree seat angle and other measurements the same. Lazy at best, intentionally dishonest at worst.

I like this guy's video though, it is basically a FM1001 review.

There is no review there. There a POV video riding and the guy just saying this bike is nimble sweet so good. No comments on behaviour, geometry, finishes..... Just one more guy with a new bike.

Re: Tideace 2022 New Enduro Mold FS838 Being Production
Why too short for XL?  XL is would be my size ;)

It's fine, just a bit shorter than the length of the Norco for the XL size. XL is probably the best size. I rather have a shorter chainstay than one that's too long.

That said, I wouldn't exactly recommend buying this frame. Look at this salesman's history on the thread. It sounds like quality control is a serious issue. Customer service is aimed selling fixes instead instead of customer satisfaction.

I mean, someone broke their collarbone due to defects... that's a rough reputation if I've ever seen one.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
...
Problems: to me press fit bottom bracket is a very, very bad idea, especially on a carbon frame;said this the original bottom bracket was almost locked, bearing destroyed from water; anyway I managed to push it out and replace with a shimano XT. ...

I have had imstalled this shell in all the PF Frames:
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/33021799492.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_groupList.8148356.5.71fc4f0dXR655N&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21EUR%21%E2%82%AC%2038%2C95%21%E2%82%AC%2019%2C08%21%21%21%21%21%400b0a187916665974943816642ee814%2167185730081%21sh

before Installing replace the bearins into inox Enduro bearings 243775-2RSO1.

This works this year for a realy lot of km and much more than 50.000 meter down in rough terrain.

Damn what bike parks are open into November? New England's got a secret...

Highland bike park - they're typically open through veterans day. The weather this fall has been amazing, and we are looking at 70's again this weekend. Thanks, global warming??

The bike was exactly what I was expecting - point and shoot.  Where I had to be more selective of line choice to go fast through rough stuff on the Ripmo,  you can just point downhill and go. Soaked up those late season braking bumps with ease.

It has a longer wheelbase and longer chainstays so of course it doesn't handle as well through tight turns and slow tech but that's to be expected.

Did half my runs with the float x and half with the x2. The float was definitely more fun, but the X2 held up better in the chunk. So far this is exactly what I expected and wanted out of this frame.  We'll see how it holds up long term but for now I'll consider this another win from Carbonda.

Would be interesting to get a comparison against the Transition Spire...the Spire is a well reviewed bike that is more so in the FM-1003's category than the Ripmo.

Re: Carbonda FM909 Today was build day.  Combination of heatgun and scalpel and a bearing press dealt with extracting the painted-over bearings in all but one of the pivots.  It was a long, laborious process which the mechanic didn't enjoy, and it should not have been necessary but for the carelessness of the painters Carbonda used.

Unfortunately we couldn't extract the double bearings in the middle linkage.  As there are two on each side I suspect it's not easy at the best of times, but per the photos, there was a large amount of clearcoat penetration of the bearing recess (worse than all the others) and they're completely stuck fast.  There's no way to remove them without using force sufficient to destroy the linkage.

As such I emailed Carbonda requesting a new, painted middle linkage and bearings, to replace the current one when the bearings fail - which I can't imagine will take more than a season as we have fine dust like icing sugar here.

Aside from all the time spent on that, things were relatively trouble free until it was brakes time.

Titanium planet magura bleed screws refused to seal the caliper, despite looking identical to stock ones. Took ages to diagnose what the issue was as they weren't leaking visibly initially but all pressure was gone.   Then we discovered Hope floating rotor attachment points don't clear magura MT 2pot rear calipers. Going to have to swap the XTR one from gravel bike in.  Also forgot I needed a PM 160->180 adapter for the Manitou R7 Pro, which fortunately the LBS had.

Both the mechanic and I felt the Acros headset bearings were significantly worse quality than the ones provided by Carbonda. Also the IP seal that Acros provide to go between the bottom of the headtube and bearing results in play and won't work. Crown race they provide is also not split and won't work on the R7 Pro, or I suspect many other forks.    So we used the original  Carbonda bottom bearing and crown race, and the Acros upper bearing, cable routing insert and headset cover that I needed for integrated cabling with the Syncros Fraser bar.

Hopefully finishing it off tomorrow.
